two questions - Will this make it to the 360 and why do they disrespect AC/DC?

Rumor has it, yes, and they dissed Rush on the first one, so why not AC/DC?  Besides, there are still a LOT more tracks to be unveiled. smile

They've wanted AC/DC on both but the band wouldn't cooperate according to the official forums.  Several dream bands of the devs wouldn't cooperate though some (Van Halen) came around for the second after seeing what the first was all about.

But they'd let the gap bastardize one of their signature songs in a commercial? Red Octane must not have paid enough.

Hanger 18 is a terrible choice from the Megadeth catalog.

Guitar Hero II tracklist as it's revealed, I can't wait to see the final list.

Added 9/13 :
  • "Hangar 18" - Megadeth

Niiiice...  may not be one of their best ones, but my band back in college covered it, so there's a sentimental attachment smile

I am going to guess no because there is no PS2 controller slots on the PS3. There is always a chance that a 3rd party accessory solution could happen though. Speaking of third party accessories, in anticipation of Guitar Hero 2 I went out and purchased this wireless guitar. Response and performance is good, the strap and the pegs that hold the strap suck.

Previews of some of the songs are up at http://www.guitarherogame.com/
The vocalist for "You really got me" is dead on!

As for the wireless guitar if you were considering it you might want to pick it up soon before it disappears.

hot damn...that's the best gaming news i've heard in a long time icon_biggrin

while the original GH is a great game, the song list for GH2 is incredible...especially after hearing some of the covers up on the GH2 website now.  while i always had faith given how good the original GH songs are, it's great to actually hear absolutely classic guitar songs like Sweet Child O' Mine, Surrender, War Pigs, and You Really Got Me covered so faithfully.  i just wish we didn't have to wait until next year to get it on the 360...

I'm getting sick of developers putting platform specific content for each release and expecting me to be happy about it.  I can't afford to buy every platform out there and three copies of games I want just to play the whole experience.  When I buy a game I want the whole goddamn thing and don't want to feel like I'm getting ripped off and missing out on other parts of the game because of the platform I buy the game for.  Just put the all of the development time and resources toward making the game the best it can be for everyone on all platforms.

Another little rumor about one song from the GH2 wiki  :

Quote
In a new podcast from the editors of OPM, "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas was revealed as a playable track, although this is yet to officially confirmed by either Harmonix or Red Octane.

Nice!

Some strong evidence through word of mouth has led to the supposed inclusion of these tracks on GH2.

Taken from IGN and the GH2 wiki :

Quote
Opening Licks
Strutter - Kiss
Mother - Danzig
Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters
Shout At The Devil - Motley Crue
Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight - Spinal Tap

Amp-Warmers
Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana
Message In A Bottle - Police
Woman - Wolfmother (artist not confirmed)
You Really Got Me - Van Halan (Kinks)
Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas

String Snappers
Surrender - Cheap Trick
Them Bones - Alice in Chains
Search and Destroy - Stooges (artist not confirmed, but it damn well better be the stooges!)
Tatooed Love Boys - The Pretenders
War Pigs - Sabbath

Thrash and Burn
Cherry Pie - Warrant
Who Was In My Room Last Night - Butthole Surfers
Girlfriend - Darkness (artist not confirmed)
Can't You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones
Sweet Child of Mine - GnR

Return of the Shred
Killing In The Name - Rage Against The Machine
John The Fisherman - Primus
Freya - Sword (artist not confirmed)
Bad Reputation - (too hard to say, my guess is Thin Lizzy, but could be Joan Jett)
Jessica - Allman Brothers

Relentless Riffs
Crazy On You - Heart
Trippin On A Hole In A Paper Heart - STP
Rock This Town - Stray Cays
Last Child - Aerosmith
Stop - (Jane's Addiction? artist not confirmed)
Furious Fretwork

Madhouse - Antrhax

Day one purchase, no doubt.

If this came out tomorrow I would take the day off to play it.  This is going to be so much fun, especially when I coerce my neighbor into jamming with me on a second guitar.  I am going to sing along and they will not complain!

Word.  I saw Institutionalized on the list and did a back flip. (Well, I would have, if I could do a back flip).  That song and Jane's Addiction's Stop were wonderful suprises to me.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but my problem with this whole thing is that there aren't even 10 songs I am excited about, while there at least as many that I really hate and the rest I have differeing degrees of apathy towards.

E9 - I hear you, to an extent, but I'm in the opposite camp. I love about 90% of the songs on the list. It's a rock/classic rock game and that's my type of music.

We've had techno up that ass in various music/rhythm games and the constant hip-hip from every other game is WAY over done.

It's nice to get something different in here.

Oh, I like rock and I think it's good that this game is aimed for that rather than something like techno or hip-hop (ugh!), but my problem is that I really despise hair-bands and most of the 80's, which have a number of tracks on there.

I understand it's all a balancing act for them, trying to get a broad enough range to appeal to lots of different people's tastes.  That is a very hard thing to do.  Plus they have the problem of licensing costs and trying to convince the license holders it is a good move to do this with their music.

So will Killing in the name of include the 10 minute part where he screams 'F you I won't do what you told me?'  Maybe they'll change it to 'Hug you, I'll do what you told me!'

I recognize very few of those songs.  Great opportunity to expand my horizons!

Krusty the Clown: Now, boys, the network has a problem with some of your lyrics. Do you mind changing them for the show?
Anthony Kiedis: Forget you, clown.
Chad Smith: Yeah, our lyrics are like our children, man. No way.
Krusty the Clown: Well, okay, but here where it says, "What I got you gotta get and put it in ya," how about just, "What I'd like is I'd like to hug and kiss ya."
Flea: Wow. That's much better.
Arik Marshall: Everyone can enjoy that.

I've wondered about that too.  I figured they would steer clear of songs that required heavy editing.
