I'm starting this thread because I need some help and could be of help to others. The strategy guide has maps of where to find things like weapons, bribes, armor and the like, but the maps are of such a scale that they aren't very useful except for making you feel like a dope because while you know where something should be, you just can't find it  frown

Also, if requested we can post the location of interesting vehicles or the like. I have come across a couple of racing bikes (NGR-500) that I wouldn't have found in a dozen hours if I was looking for them  , if someone wants this info I'll be happy to post it with the appropriate spoilers label.

So, I'll kick it off with my first question [a very minor spoiler]

According to my map there is a body armor power-up just to the northeast of CJ's home base in Ganton, maybe a block or so away, but I can't find it, and I have looked all over there. Has someone located this item?

NRG-500 racing bike.  easy.  you can find it on the 2nd and top levels of a multi-story car park in East Beach.  the entrance is on a East-west running road just north of "East Beach" on the map.  hope that helps

Robbery van.  i believe that is located just S, possibly SW of the cul de sac, parked in the driveway of a row of houses.  map location between "Ganton" and "willowfield".

not 100% sure, but i do remember seeing it not far from there

I don't know if I should start a new thread about gameplay tips, but since I generally don't like to make too much clutter, I will ask my question in here...  I can't seem to get the last few points for Denise...  I go on my dates with her, and the bar is almost full, and I do everything I can think of to make her happy, but that last few points never seems to fill up, even after succesful dates with flowers and *ahem* coffee...  Is there no way to max it out and get whatever reward I am supposed to get for her?  Or did I already get it in the new suit and keys to her car???

Anyway, to address some of the earlier questions:

The way I find the Burglary Van is I find the Gym.  It is across the street from the gym in the yard of one of those apartment complexes.

The body armor near CJ's house is down in the concrete river bed, underneath a bridge.

Unasked for item:

Under the other bridge is a Mini-Uzi.  A good start to any mission is to make sure you have full armor and the Uzi makes a decent weapon to start with.

Is the NRG 500 bike faster than the something something 900 bike I found?  I mean, it's a bigger number, but the one you speak of has "energy" in the name!

Where do I get spray paint for spraying over the graffiti? If the game said anything about it in the mission where the introduced spraying graffiti I guess I missed it.

Yeah spray paint in your house you start at. Here's an easy way to find the thief van. Goto the gym you first goto(right by your house) turn around. See those apartments? Head there and the van spawns in one of those lots. Simply drive around do the missions and park it in your garage.

Is it possible that some of the weapon/armor powerup locations listed in the guide are triggered by completing a certain mission, or just plain wrong?  There are a number of things I havent been able to find, and a few that look like they are a bit 'off' location-wise, according to the guide's map.

Specifically I am looking for the 'Mystery Gun' in the little rural area outside of LS.  I think its labeled as #14 in the guide, but I dont have it in front of me.

Anyone know where I can buy a katana?  I loved the one I got in a mission and I'd like to buy a replacement if possible.

been trying to lear Supply lines, and failing miserably...  How bad is it?  10 straight mission failures.

I _finally_ killed all 5 of the vehicles... and of course, Ifind out I somehow have to fly back on the feul amount?

My feul seemed to drop just about as quickly when I coasted, and the far vehicles dont seem to get much closer...  Hints?

I've pretty much given up on the mission in the short term, plenty of other stuff to work on.

The Supply Lines mission is excessively hard.  It took me probably between 30 and 50 tries.

re:  supply lines.  i don't know how much this could help, but a buddy who got past this said that his fuel consumption was nil while on the ground.  said he used that to kill the vehicles.  it might give you enough gas later on to make it.  dunno if its true though, but i thought i'd mention it.

oh, and he also got a great way to make tons of money without cheating.  more like using the system really.  made him over 1.6mil in no time at all.  let me know if you would like to hear about it.

The Casinos in Las Venturas pay 2 to 1 for blackjack, I wish you could count cards, but even just using basic strategy I went from $50k to $30Million in just a few hours, no save&reload cheating necessary!

Here's a little spoiler for those (like me) who had lots of trouble with the ambulance mission:
.
.
.
.
..
..
.
.
.
.
Go to Montgomery and steal the ambulance there (or drive one to there). When you start the ambulance missions you'll find that the patients spawn within a couple of blocks until you get to the sixth or seventh patient. Pretty neat if you are like me and kept hitting everything in sight when you drive!

I don't know about you guys but I'm having tough time beating Air Raid. It's frustrating as hell. Good thing it's not required to advance in the game but the Z on my radar bugs the hell out of me.

Air raid was a pain.  Make sure you never attempt it at night, it was impossible for me to even see the planes before it was too late.

One key point that helped me on that mission: Only shoot incoming planes (or their bombs).  My first few times I was shooting down every radar blip, but if they've dropped their bomb already, or if you shot the bomb but not the plane, they will still show up on radar but are harmless.

Anybody have any advice on winning bets on the horseraces?  I swear I never win.  No matter what horse I bet on, no matter the odds, it always comes in dead last.  Seriously.  I think my chosen horse has come in in 3rd place twice out of all the times I've made bets.

If I pick a horse with 2-1 odds, it comes in last.  If I pick one with 11-1 odds, it comes in last.  If I pick my favorite color, it comes in last.  If I pick the least or most offensively named horse, it comes in last.  If I randomly pick one with my eyes closed, it comes in last.  I can't seriously have luck this bad... So what am I doing wrong????

honestly, i don't know if there's a system to winning the horse races.  you just need to keep trying.  i always put my money down on the 12 or 11 to 1.  i probably lost 5 times before i won once.  then i got lucky and won twice in a row and a third time after just a few tries.

as for luck in the game, you can raise that by getting the horseshoes scattered around las venturas.

Look, if you wanna beat it I won't stop you, but realize that the mission(Supply Lines...) following this one is literally at least ten times harder. It's next to impossible by most accounts, including mine.

Might wanna save yourself the effort.

The  Air Raid mission has to be done during the day to have a chance.  I recommend shooting not just incoming planes but planes that have dropped their ordinance if possible because those planes will also do kamikaze runs.  Your radar also shows where the planes are coming from directionally, so you can glance at that and maybe gain a little edge being prepared.  Finally, try and defend the first tower for as long as possible because once one falls, the others go more quickly.

The Supply Lines mission is very difficult.  One thing I've noticed is that the one motorcycle courier (the one that shoots at you) doesn't move until you approach him and the light he's waiting at changes.  I recommend doing the two closest couriers (a bicyclist and a van in the Haight-Ashbury section), and try and get them with one pass.  Then land at the intersection where the motorcycle courier is waiting, close tot he courier, line up your shot and unload, turn with the bike so you can get more shots in.  If you do it right you should get enought hits to kill it.  Then do the van which is pretty easy (try to line it up so the van is moving towards you).

Then make a break for home.

One other tip, if you clearly see you're not going to make it in time, and you can get an pretty good idea early, hold O to self-destruct and save yourself some time.

So, has anybody found any other "gifts" besides the big purple thing in the Los Santos Police station? I am wondering how many different "gifts" there are in the game, and looking for presents for CJ's new ladyfriends.

So far all I know about are flowers and the purple thing...

There are flowers all over the place in Los Santos.  I think the easiest to find are in Glen Park, which is somewhat Northwest of the hospital, I think.

There is also a gas station southeast of the dance club with flowers in front of the building.

Those are the ones I found easiest to get before a date.

I read a post on the gamefaqs GTA SA forums about how to get a hunter without having to get all gold medals in flight school, and it worked!

You have to have unlocked Las Venturas and the races.  You go to LV, to the airport, where the airport race mission is, and take the mission with the hunter (Heli Hell or something like that), you will appear in Los Santos with the hunter.  Just ignore the race, and head north to the airport in Las Venturas, land near where the race spawns, get out and wait for the timer to expire.  Then, you appear back at the race menu, exit, turn around, and your hunter should be nearby!

I still suck at flying it though.  But at least now I have a better chance at doing the vigilante missions.
