I wondered when you'd get this review up, Mitch. biggrin

And I'd also like to blame Bill Harris for getting me to run out and buy this game ASAP (as I have a Fry's Electronics near me) a few months back. Worth every penny and then some.

Nice review WBS!  Here's another one I need to add to my wish list now.

Is there going to be any difference between the US version and this one?

"US Version"?  Is this not out in the US yet?

I also loved the review, and must curse you for making me want to buy yet another game.

How much was it at Fry's?  Might be worth a little trip down to Wilsonville at the right price biggrin

It's between $30 and $40 but I don't recall off the top of my head. Worth every penny though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the currently available version is the European version.  If everythings remains the same then I suppose the only thing a US version affects is availability.

Exactly. And if you live near a Fry's or care to hit the GoGamer link on the GT frontpage, then the game can be yours very soon....

I'll wait a while.  I remember all the hype surrounding Europa 1400.  And while it was a decent game, it was hard to find, WAY too buggy, and overpriced for what I received.

If the concensus is that it lives up to the hype in six months, I'll get it.

You realize it has been out for 6 months already, right?

How's Starforce for it?  Will it run on Windows 98?

I was under the impression it had not been released in the USA yet.

How long was Europa 1400 out for in Germany before it was released here?  Sorry, I'm going to wait.

I purchased this the day it came out in the European world.  I put more hours into this than I have Civ 4.  It was so captivating that my wife, a diehard non-gamer became addicted.  Consider yourself hyped.

STOP!!!

Leave me with my sour grapes- with all of the games I still have to play, the last thing I need right now is another game.

If you've gotten to the point where you're demanding the forum to stop trying to convince you to buy a game, just give up now. You know you'll be buying it within the next day or two. biggrin

Good review, even if I think 96/100 is a wee bit steep.

I was thinking that while reading the review.

Sigh.  I might have to buy it.  I mean WTF, it has text adventures?  Must... resist...

Or it's $40 via GoGamer or Outpost.com (Frys Electronics' webpage) if you must get the European version right this minute.

Bought this a few months ago via gogamer.  Absolutely love the game.  Play it quite a bit.  Never encountered any bugs, just some rough translations now and again.

Which I think add to the charm. They even mention as much in the manual that there are some language issues considering it's a few thousand years in the future. There are so few quirks that everything is perfectly understandable, but sometimes you might have to think about a sentence twice to get the meaning. At no point is it a game killer. If anything, it only adds to the quirkiness of the game. smile

I've also had zero problems with crashes or bugs. Remarkably stable game. If you have to remove Starfarce, the no-cd is out which when combined with the Starfarce removal tool means the game still runs very slick. biggrin

well, Gamestop has an ETA of 3-16 for the game.  I'm kinda interested but there's so many games coming out in March if I buy this it'll most likely get buried under console games.
