Similar to HankRaptor it not only took me a while but I STILL have not picked up this game.  Is it really the second coming as all reviews lead you to believe?  Do you guys/gals still play it online?

It is some of the most fun I've personally had playing on live.  I really enjoy co-op much more than vs. for this style of game.

Haven't played much lately because we've gone through the available missions a lot.  However, if anyone still needs/wants the achievements for the co-op campaign, let us know and I'm sure that several will be willing to help out.

Considering how out of practice I found myself last night I could use the refresher before the new maps arrive.   Cool

This game, and the true finality of death, has me on the edge of my seat like none other.  I am so apprehensive creeping around, fearing the next corner will be an ambush.  It is a hell of a game multiplayer though.

Playing with Moriarty and Jarrod is a real treat.  They know what they are doing, have fun, but get the job done.  Plus they know all the military lingo which just adds to the atmosphere.  They are also very nice and forgiving to the noobs (or those, like me, that just plain suck)!

I don't think I'd want to play it in the free-for-all quick match, but with a bunch of GT players it's a blast.

Thanks stiffler, of course if you'd seen me playing last night you would have laughed yourself silly.  Kept getting killed in really stupid ways/places.

I prefer to put part of the blame for that happening on the fact that a friend was playing HL2:ep1 within line of sight the entire time.

Edit: Got some time in with ElGuapo and some of the guys from QT3 tonight before I had to bail for work.  Good times.  Finally started to remember how to play.

I played the coop campaign last night with my brother, and despite completing the missions (2 of 'em anyway), we didn't get the achievement.  Is that because it was a private game?  Or because we changed the settings from the default?

I want my achievement!

DonD:  Yes, you have to complete the missions with the default setup to get the achievements.  One of the reasons that it is easier to do online with 5-6 people playing  smile  that way if you die there are still several other people to finish it out.

  awwwww. it's always nice to hear that people like to play with me (no pun intended, you naughty boys).

as for "still playing it online"....

i've never even finished the first mission in single-player!  XD  i couldn't stand it.  the checkpoints are way too far apart, for one thing, and the friendly AI is among the most retarded i've ever seen (on par with the henchman AI from Neverwinter Nights..."here comes halfling death!" indeed).

i'm looking forward to a silenced sniper rifle...does anybody know if there's another big gun for an autorifle-loving gal like me?  i'm really attached to my M60 by now, but i think i'd be willing to readjust if i met the right high-calibre gun. <3

Specifically select "Campaign" and don't change anything.   You can change the time limit though and it will still count.

I was able to complete missions 1 and 2 (in the first chapter obviously) with 2 others.   Working on the 3rd at the moment.

I'm pretty sure you and JHK play like this :

JHK - you lead, honey...
[ JHK hides behind dumpster at spawn, and then goes to get a sandwich ]
MM  - sure dear. YOU ALL DIE!!!!!
[ 400 rounds left ]
...
[ 300 rounds left ]
...
[ 200 rounds left ]
...
[ 100 rounds left ]
...
[ MM is out of rounds, and is shot trying to get to ammo point ]
[ JHK finishes sandwich, comes back and kills the last 2 terrorists easily; they're the ones hiding behind the only building left standing ]

For some reason they don't like you and your jungle-saw. The only thing more accurate than the enemy fire is your friendly fire. biggrin That's not to say you aim at the team; it's a lack of our ability to find cover fast enough... slywink

I miss this game. I need to go back and play campaign on hard (but I hate the chopper levels). :: sigh :: Maybe the MP achievements I've missed will bring me back to it.

Yes... .come back and play.  Need more people.  Of course you also need to get back into practice for the second chapter of co-op.

I'm pretty sure if I said 'you lead dear' to moriarty she'd slug me, then shoot me in the game, then go on to finish the level.

No problem  smile   I was introduced to it by some of the guys from QT3.  Papasmurff and I have been trying off and on to get through the co-op missions with pistols only.   We've had... limited success

We did make it through as a pair of snipers though!

Yeah, "pistols only" was hard, especially when you empty your clips and you are still starring at 30 AI on the spawn point ;-)

I had fun the other night with this though.

We did some PVP pistols only.  Fun times.  Nothing quite like turning a corner to see an opponent, opening fire, both of you pulling the trigger as fast as you can... then reloading because neither of you was killed

I am curious as to exactly how detailed the damage model is in the game.  It definitely feels like it takes location of the hit, distance, size of the round, into account.

Also interesting when you see an NPC shoot you while facing away from you.

Managed to kill myself with a mk48 machine gun last night.  No idea how that is even possible.  Nothing explosive near where I was shooting... papa and I were both just sitting there going 'how did you kill yourself!?'

The other thing about the "Perfect Chapter 1" achievement is that you have to do all primary and secondary objectives to get it.

The only level that makes this difficult if you're solo-ing the co-op missions is the Treasury. Once you get to the point where you can see the treasury itself you have to haul ass up to one side of it, move around the back and blow up a jeep/hummer/thing before it starts moving. If it starts moving you can still kill it and finish the mission, but you wont' get the achievement because stopping the raid on the treasury is a secondary objective.

That one gave me fits.

The temple can be a pain solo too, just because of the very end.

But Old Town and the Wharf are perfectly fine for solo play if you grab a silenced weapon and move around the edges of the map whenever possible smile

usually, we never let the hummer get past the open courtyard in front of the treasury--between m60, 50-cal, and a bunch of random riflemen on the ground (hurray for jarrodhk and soulchilde...XD), we tend to take care of at least the driver pretty early on.

It also helps to have someone with nades right there as well.  It is fun to blow that humvee up!  Don't recommed taking the level on with only snipers, jarrod and I had fun trying to nail that driver with scopes, not impossible but kinda hard

Also we have expanded our pistols only experience and now have a game type with the mp5-sd.  This is a fun gun to use, especially with the 3 round burst option.  No scopes make it a little more challenging, however, makes it more fun.  Recommend you all try this!!!

The only problem with that thought is that both the pistol and the mp5 shoot the same round!  The mp5 is just more accurate at distance.
