Apparently there is a car you can get for free when you play online its called the 'Elegy' and you can get it from the internet on your ingame phone..however,you need a garage, and i am not at that point yet(and you need to be Social Club member)

Nice.  I remember that car from previous games.  btw, that looks like a real life shot.

I've also promoted a few of you ruffians in the crew.

Is there a way to always be teamed up for the crew? I played on a server with msduncan last night and it kept putting us on different teams... and I think he ran over me at least once in freemode when I was trying to help him against someone (although, I am not sure if he needed help... couldn't hear any talking over chat)...

Based on past posts here with everyone playing together online, I can see how you could be confused by me trying to help and not hinder. smile (Obviously not in the missions where we were on opposite sides..)

I was playing online earlier and got into a motorbike race with just me and another higher level guy(i am rank 6)..as soon as the race started he sped off and nearly vanished over the horizon

I followed as best i could keeping him just in my sights(or kept track on the map) and it stayed that way for pretty much most of the race at the last corner of the race he smashed into a car and i took the lead for the last few feet and crossed the finish line with him touching my wheels behind,it reminded me of this:

not sure if i got a good review from him or not Tongue

It worked out well that I finished the campaign in GTAV, as I just got a copy of Command: Modern Air Naval Operations and that will be taking up my time for awhile. I'll still jump back to GTAV and GTAO for the occasional break  nod

A new patch has been released. Details....

Quote
This is the statement and details from Rockstar:

A new GTAV title update to address issues in GTA Online is now available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This title update addresses a number of issues that GTA Online players have been experiencing in the initial days of launch this week, including:

Fix to address the issue where players were stuck launching a session before the Mall or Nothing race in the online tutorial.
Fix to address an issue where bank & cash were deleted incorrectly in some cases.
Fix to address incorrect amounts of cash being dropped when the player dies in Missions and Last Team Standing.
Fixes an issue where the Character Switch Wheel would disappear after a failed load.
Fixes an issue where attempting to enter GTA Online via the Character Switch Wheel caused a black screen.
Fixes an issue where temporary characters were overwriting main characters.
Fixes an issue where players were losing apartments and the money they spent on them.
Fixes an issue that caused Story Mode missions to be missed in some instances.
Removes the autosave that occurred when transitioning into GTA Online from within GTAV Story Mode to prevent the chance of Story Mode saves becoming corrupted.
Several tweaks to GTA Online including improving overall stability.

Playing some more GTAO. For there supposedly being so many people playing, it seems to take forever to get a group together to take on a mission. And I'm still missing the garage I bought, so I'm not buying anything like apartments or cars for awhile.

So what's the consensus? Safe to play online? Character won't be deleted? Single player won't be hosed? Etc..? I tried to play online day one. No fun. So I just have been so wrapped up in d3 360 and the single player gta so I never bothered to care. But, well, it looks awesome! So?? Jump?

some details that I've noticed while playing and not mentioned:

after Franklin's mission after the "The Moment of Truth" achievement/trophy
Spoiler for Hiden:
As Michael, I called my therapist and had a long conversation where he talks about the events of the mission and how it changed my life.  pretty nice touch.  I then set up a meeting between him and Trevor on the street and had another interesting conversation.  Love that they put that in there and yet most people would never even come across it.

mid-point heist
Spoiler for Hiden:
I took Packie on the Paletto Bay heist and got to hear his take on the whole LC Bank heist from IV.  That was pretty cool.

noticed that Michael will make relevant comments if you take the same people on heists.  after a late-game setup, he says about the hired gun that "he's my go-to guy.  not going to change that now."  all of the heist related conversations from your chosen henchmen are pretty good too.  and most will not be heard by a majority of players.

I played for four hours last night and the only problem I had was once when Xbox Live signed me off of the system for some reason. The game sent me back to the single player mode. I logged back onto XBL and went back to GTAO and hadn't lost anything. Other than that, things were nice and stable. I hadn't gotten back the garage or the money I spent on it, but that was from before the first update so I'm guessing it's gone for good.

GTAO does occasionally show a screen message (when you are switching between missions and freeplay) that tells you not to create a new character if you find yours is blank, instead you are to log out of Online and go back to SP, then log back into GTAO. And it reminds you that they are still hard at work fixing problem. So I guess it's still a bit dicey if you want to play, but the risk to your saves is apparently diminished.

woohoo Rockstar are giving us half a million dollars

Unfortunately its in game money Roll Eyes

CVG

Quote
Rockstar is to provide every Grand Theft Auto Online player with in-game cash as compensation for the issues that have plagued the online game since its launch on October 1.

Each GTA 5 owner who plays or has played the game this month will be offered half a million GTA$ in two deposits. That's equivalent to a real world offering of £6.25, the price users can opt to pay to purchase a Bull Shark cash card worth 500,000 GTA$.

Rockstar explained: "In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, we will be providing this GTA$ to players via two deposits of $250,000. We will announce specific dates as soon as possible, but are currently hoping to be able to make the first deposit by the end of next week (after we've confirmed that issues causing game progress loss have been fixed) with the second installment to happen by the end of the month.

"For players who experienced cloud server errors, connection issues, and lost game progress and characters in these first days of GTA Online, we hope this GTA$ helps to facilitate a fresh start or makes your continued life in Los Santos and Blaine County extra sweet."

Quote
How it will work

-You must play or have played Grand Theft Auto Online at any time during the month of October 2013 in order to qualify for the GTA$500,000 deposit in your in-game bank account.

-Players will first have to install a forthcoming GTAV title update which we expect to happen next week. That title update (1.04) is expected to fix the remaining instances of issues that have caused vehicle purchase loss and will also enable the functionality through which we'll be providing this GTA$ stimulus cash to players.

-We will announce at the Rockstar Newswire when each deposit is made.

-Each of the two GTA$250,000 deposits will be made by Rockstar and should automatically appear in the in-game GTA Online bank accounts of eligible players. Beyond downloading the forthcoming title update mentioned above, there should not be any additional special action required by eligible players to redeem.

I'll take it. I want a nice house with a garage and the $22k I have isn't doing it. They need to let me sell stolen cars more often... and let me sell the exotics I steal!

Rockstar served cease and desist letter by rapper over GTA 5 song use:

Quote
Dillinger sent publisher Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar Games the notice through his attorney, demanding all copies of GTA 5 be recalled over use of his songs "C-Walk" and "Nothin' but the Cavi Hit." This comes despite reportedly turning down an offer of $4,271 for both songs.

The artist is asking Rockstar to either recall and destroy all copies of the game or offer a larger sum of money. His lawyers have given the company 14 days to comply.

they'll probably just patch out the songs.

Nah, I suspect that won't be enough since the songs are actually on the disc. They'll probably just give him a better offer.

That is, if the guy is even telling the truth.

So what's the consensus? Safe to play online? Character won't be deleted? Single player won't be hosed? Etc..? I tried to play online day one. No fun. So I just have been so wrapped up in d3 360 and the single player gta so I never bothered to care. But, well, it looks awesome! So?? Jump?

Just what I wanted to hear! Thanks! I probably won't have time to fire it up until Monday night anyway, so even maybe by then things will be even more stable. They have been working really hard to fix this it seems.

Well, I finished the single player story tonight.  Not bad overall.  Still don't care for the characters all that much, especially Trevor.

My final patient diagnosis:

Spoiler for Hiden:
A bit of a tragic case - riddled with contradictory issues.
Sees both sides of the argument - and can't make their mind up.
Wow - identifies with the strangest people.
Probably end up in the poor house - still should pay for my ski chalet.
Sexually confused.
Treats women as a commodity.
Family focused - not sure why.
Falls for get rich quick schemes and other easy way outs.
Vindictive bully.
Kleptomaniac.
Attempts at spirituality not successful.  Unlike crime career.
At least they don't over exercise.
Seems to like strange people.
A.D.D.?
What a fucking mess!

Collected the 50 scraps of paper and 50 spaceship parts now,the scraps of paper were pretty much straight forward, the spaceship parts were annoying(especially the last one),but the hunts did take you to parts of the map where you may not of been before

Did you have some map to help you, or did you just wander all over the island?

The Rockstar Social Club has the locations of all the ones you're missing at all times, FYI.
