I'm confused over the Social Club and the ifruit app.

I signed up for the social club and joined the GT crew through the link here in this thread.   Last night I couldn't log into the Social Club, but I'm assuming that you have to link your game (from within the game menu) to your Social Club account?

I also downloaded the ifruit app and get constant 'unable to sign in' errors.

I had been a bit dubious of all the hype about the new GTAV map and environs. I don't think the world in GTA IV was as interesting as in San Andreas; sure there was a lot more detail, but the variety was lacking. After several hours in GTAV, I am very happy with the new map. It is really so much closer to a real world with vast amount of little details, plus there is a great variety of different environments. Very cool icon_biggrin.

I also learned something as I took the freeway north. I was listening to talk radio and sudden it changed to another station. Fearing a bug, I checked the radio wheel. My station was no longer there, but I saw at least one new one I didn't recognize. Turns out you can go outside of the range of at least one station; interesting.

Social Club stats are wonky. I didn't actually link the game to my account but it seems to know I've played the game (via my GamerTag I suppose)?

Anyway, it knows how long I've played with each character but all the driving, shooting, etc stats are at Zeroes.

Damn, all this feedback about the game really makes me want to get it now, but I think it's one I'll wait for Christmas. Sounds amazing though!

That screenshot of Grove Street... is it still called that in-game? Also, maybe it's just the lighting, but it doesn't look like it has as many houses as in SA.

I think it is,at least i think one of the garages where you store cars is called Grove Street Garage, and yeah as i said GTA:SA was set in 1992,i think this game is set in 2013(although it could be 2014*),so there could have been a lot of redevelopment, that's if it IS the same street

small spoiler on Trevor i suppose

good point on the investing.  put that money on the bawsaq as no doubt the money spent over all players should drive the stock price up.

You can access the investment websites before the Lifehacker mission; I just happened to see the website on the phone and figured out that this was the way to put the money in that you can check on via the Rockstar Social Club profile pages.

PC assets found in iFruit.

Quote
No sense wasting time, I'll get right to it: Reader Leon Lien was scoping out the new GTA V iPhone app called GTA iFruit and spotted assets for the PC version of GTA V. Our editors suggested we recreate the scenario for added proof... and guess what we found?

First a full disclosure before we go any further: We've been hit with a lot of legal threats from Rockstar's legal cronies over the past week, with the last threat being very, very serious. So I'm not able to post any screenshots of the procedure to access the files or screenshots of the files themselves, since we have to err on the side of caution right now and hopefully avoid a quarter-of-a-million dollar fine. Instead I'll just descriptively make the information available for anyone else who also wants to take a look.

couple of cool things I just noticed:

your car wheels can get bent up, making turning hard.  found this out after surviving a train crash.  of course the car should have been totally wrecked....

you can get stuck in mud/sand if it is raining.

not sure I'm crazy about how little life they give you versus the amount of damage that gets dished out.  thankfully gratuitous use of the quick save and loading feature has saved me $1000's when it comes to the occasional random death.  it's odd, sometimes I can be flying down the street at high speed and ram something with no worries, but then there will be the one time the character gets flung through the windshield for a quick 'wasted'.

This map is awesome  icon_biggrin.

I was being chased by the cops, so I hopped into the Los Santos river concrete canyon and drove north. After a while of not being able to lose them, I came to a dirt ramp, through a tunnel and hey, I'm at the head of the damn river! Lots of abandoned shopping carts. Totally unexpected. And not quite the head, there's a small stream feeding it. So I follow the little creek upstream and find a freaking dam:

Only one problem... how do I get up that thing?
