Tiscali Games has the first details on Gothic 4 : Arcania, by way of a German gaming magazine.

I loved Gothic I and II but I still haven’t managed to get past the first town in III.  Still, glad to hear it.

Same. I started it about March 2007 and finished the entire middle part of the map. But as I spread from there I found I was doing all the stuff Id been doing since the start and got bored and took a break. I still haven't got back to it. I really want to finish it.

Guess I'm also in the started the game and got well into it but stopped club. I explored just about all the map but had some pretty major quests to complete. I have a new rig now and Gothic 3 now runs really smooth. So I will probably get back to it after I finish Witcher. It will be intertesting to see what game is more Gothicy - the upcoming Gothic 4 the next game by PB.

Ive even stopped The Witcher. Once I got into the 2nd area of the city I stepped away and still haven't got back. I did the same thing with NWN2. Finished the game and put in the addon and then stepped away. I never did go back to it and just deleted it tonight.

I really, really wanted to like Gothic 3 but some horrible execution prevents me.  Like combat against animals that knock you down and then pretty much tear into you before you can even stand up.  And the insanely long "quick" save/load times.  Doesn't that bother anyone else?

CRPG.RU has the first screenshots here.  They're just some screens of a forest setting, but they look gorgeous.

they almost look like concept art and make my system whimper.

They do look like concept art a bit, but they remind me of the first Gothic 3 PR pictures. Since the reality of G3 was quite different from those pictures, I'm holding off my excitement for now. Nor do I have any reason to believe the game will work with new developers, since this particular genre is extremely hard to pull off - and to my mind only PB did it right with Gothic and to a lesser extent Gothic 2.

Meh ... screenshots like those don't get my mouth watering.  Hmm.  That sentence sounds weird, ah well.

Now to be fair, I do like Gothic 3.  I played it quite a bit for a week or two (which is lot, given my gaming habits).  I just never got around to finishing it - I think just after the underground rebel base (or whatever it's called) is where I stalled out.  Maybe I'll pick it back up, myself.

Very pretty stuff. I think though a PC upgrade will be necessary for me though. If there's a breeze and all that grass, branches, leaves, etc. start moving, my frame rate will slooow.

Never finished Gothic 3, although I did complete Gothic and Gothic 2. Well...mostly finished...

Gamespot has a preview of the game, now called Arcania : A Gothic Tale, although there's not much information yet.  IGN has also posted a preview.
