So went to my local Target at 6am this morning and stood outside in the freezing cold for 2 hours. (I was 8th in line) and was able to leave successfully with a brand new Wii in hand.
It's now nestled snugly under the christmas tree waiting until Christmas Eve to be opened.
Woot!

Heh...what's the point of waiting until Christmas when you bought it yourself and know what it is?

It's been a hard year and so I've been buying myself a crapload of stuff to "make myself feel better" for example - I just bought a new Macbook pro plus a crapload of software a few weeks ago, plus a whole bunch of other stuff over the last few months. So I certainly don't deserve anymore presents this year. I had justified getting the wii as it "was for the family", however to really make that stick I decided that it was best to just wait till christmas eve to open it. Besides that gives me extra time to try and find component cables, and extra controller or two and some more "family" games before we hook it up. So the short answer is - to try and not feel guilty.

A Wal-Mart employee told us (and i've heard similar things around the country online) that they will be having a bunch available 12/6 at 8:01am but that they weren't going to allow any lines for them. So that's this wednesday. I've also heard that Best Buy will have another Sunday stockpile for next sunday. A good place to catch up on rumors of who is getting them when is the customer discussion section on the Wii page at Amazon.com. There's a lot of people there desperate to get one and sharing info about what they've heard about when stores are getting stock.

Im also not understanding this In my case it's my big Christmas gift from my wife. I managed to cut a deal to play my 360 early last year under similar conditions but I could tell my wife really wasn't happy witih it and it did make Christmas feel a bit anticlimactic. So this year I'm sticking to it and leaving the Wii under the tree.

I just saw the add for it, but I don't understand how it would work at a Wal-Mart? Do you have to fight for them? cause I don't know if I'm big enough for that.

To our family $300 is a huge present so I am willing to wait till Christmas out of respect for their generosity.
