Toys'r'us is having a deal where when you buy madden 08 you get another game 50% off. Well they had bioshock on the shelf and I got it for $30.00 icon_lol  Plus I had a 20% off coupon that got me madden for $50.00  icon_lol

You better forget about playing Madden and just play Bioshock so we can have some serious impressions!  icon_wink

Yep, I'll try and get some impressions up, still working thru the demo part right now and I do want to try out Madden.  If you have a toysrus check and see if they have it out.  This never happens to me and I would have never saw it if it weren't for the deal they were having at toysrus as I took a quick look to see if there was anything worth using the 50% off deal, there was  icon_wink

Northeast Ohio.  Just played awhile.  It starts off like the demo but it's not the same.  In the demo towards the end you come across the plasmid that gives you the ability to set enemies on fire, well i'm past the demo and still don't have that ability (unless I missed it), just electric shock so far.  I did hack one of those flying robots and it fought along side me which was pretty cool.  So far the game seems very good, if you liked the demo the full game is the same but more.  The game is definately creepy thats for sure.  More later.

Unless you have some impressions to post, get the hell out of here and get back to playing Bioshock.  Less talk more play.  GET TO IT!

looks like I may end up with Madden and Bioshock tomorrow. Going to check out TRU on the way home, doesn't hurt to look. And you can't beat the price by a mile.

I used to live in South Euclid, which had less things to do than Lyndhurst did and that's not saying much.  Other than places around Beachwood and the bowling alley that was near the corner of Som Center and Mayfield Severance and Richmond Mall was the main hangout spot.

Sadly, looks like most places with PC games aren't breaking the street date, and I'd really rather play this on my new PC considering this was the game I bought a new one for.  slywink

My only hope is if the street date breakage goes out of control and everyone starts selling.  Why?  Because next week classes start and I'll have little time to play.

I apologise for my snarky response earlier in the thread.  If you used to live around here you certainly have every right to make fun of it.  icon_biggrin  I guess we Clevelanders are a little too sensitive about our town after being made fun of all these years.  I appreciate you taking the high road and not sniping back.

Played a little further last night but nothing to really report then what has already been said.  One thing you can do in the game is save anywhere, don't know if that has been known or not.  If anyone has any questions please ask and I'll try to get the answer.  Won't be able to play again until this evening.

So is the death system the same as in the demo (i.e. the enemies remain injured even after you die)? If so, any chance you could try it on hard to see if that makes a difference?

Very good tidbit to pass around. I guess the complaints people were having about the possible abuse of the autosave points can be put aside with the ability to just ignore them (I know I will).

Save anywhere is good.  It's odd that they'd put those revive chambers in at all with the save anywhere system.  I wonder if they play a bigger role than just reviving the player....

They had the same thing in System Shock 2 (maybe even SS1 but it's been over a decade).  I think the basic philosophy is that it ensures you don't get yourself in a bind.  Even with save anywhere it's certainly possible to get yourself in a bind- maybe you saved in an area with too many enemies and you don't have enough ammo or whatnot and you just can't back out.  Now you can say "that's why you keep multiple saves!" but maybe the game is so damn immersive (as Bioshock seems to be) that you haven't saved in an hour.

they did have them in ss1, but they were enemy spawn points at first, iirc.  once you hacked them, they would spawn you if you died.  they also had an element to the healing stations i liked.  you had to set it up first.  most of the chambers were inactive and you needed a piece to make them work.  those capsules were pretty in pretty limited quantities.

it's been so long and my copy has been gone for years, so i'm a little rusty on the details.

are the vita-capsules already set to rez you or do you need to hack them first?  hope for the latter, pretty sure it's the former.

Just grabbed a copy from a local TRU. nod

I didn't see them out, so I just asked the lady behind the counter. She said "it must be a hot game" and that she had at least 7 calls this morning about it, but had to tell them all "not due until next tuesday". Then the truck arrived at 11 with plenty to sell (maybe 20 in the stack)...me grabbing the first.

My advice....just go into the store instead of calling.
