Huh? I thought this was just announced two days ago. Maybe someone resurrected an old thread and I didn't realize it?

Hopefully enough people complain to get it put back into production. Would be really awesome to get to play it again, especially with some xbox live action.

Probably killed due to licensing issues. Goldeneye was published under Nintendo, developed by Rare, but licensed from whatever studio owns the 007 IP. Then they might need to get the rights to the likenesses of various characters.

Yeah, Turtle, from what I've read the reason it was killed was because Nintendo and Microsoft couldn't agree on who got the proceeds...or something like that.
Too bad, I'd buy it just to revisit the AWESOME train level <3

If it makes anyone feel any better, downloads are so screwed on Live right now that we probably couldn't have downloaded it anyway.

Hopefully we'll see it on the Wii Virtual Console instead.

I think this is a good thing-if this actually did or does come out on XBLA, I think it will have aged so incredibly badly that it will ruin the memories many people have of it.

i've tried playing Goldeneye on my N64 within the last year and will admit that the game doesn't hold up well at all. while the objective-based missions and attempts at storytelling were just as i remembered, the graphics and gameplay are pretty abysmal by current standards. the game's single-stick controls are what really don't work for me anymore...no vertical aiming on the move is a killer. combine that with horribly blocky graphics, low-res textures, and simplistic level design, and you have a game that really hasn't aged well. it was fun back in the day, but there have been too many far better games in the years since Goldeneye was released to really get excited about this classic now.

Hopefully we'll see it on the Wii Virtual Console instead. i doubt it. the reason golden eye 2 ended up being an ex 00 instead of another bond game was because the 007 license holders realized they completely objected to a mass murdering fps style bond. they felt it was completely out of character and wouldnt let number 2 be in the same vein. im guessing this had more to do with golden eye than any nintendo / microsoft thing im pretty sure the only new (or old rehashes) of bond will be the more action-y type movie based games - no more fps bond for you!
