I'm holding off.  You do know that the main storyline can't be played in co-op yes (at least, that's what I've been hearing).  I think there's some kind of co-op missions, but it's not the main storyline that can be co-opped.

I'm getting it eventually, but barring extremely good forum impressions it won't be until July.

What co-op aspect of this game is there between you and your friends besides not mixing the streams?  icon_lol

I'll probably end up getting it, though I probably won't play it immediately. I just started playing Left 4 Dead so that'll probably occupy most of my gaming time in the immediate future

It supposedly has 2 types of co-op missions.  One is a horde mode like in Gears of War 2, and the other is played with a persistent character that you complete different types of missions with and use your earnings to buy equipment and the like.  There isn't much information on either yet.

Depends.  I heard that is true of the 360/PS3 version, but not the Wii version.  Dilemmas since I got a PS3.... the better graphic version, or the "Real Ghostbusters" cartoon version?  Both versions have the same story/voicetrack.  The Wii version has the "swing the proton pack" and Co-op main story.  PS3 has WAAAYYY better graphics and online one-off multiplayer missions.

I may wind up with both versions, just to see the difference.

If it means anything to you, Game Informer gave the 360/PS3 version something like an 8, and the Wii version like a 6.5.

The Game Informer review says that the Wii version has "Wii-exclusive split screen co-op...simplified combat and truncated levels".

According to my Gamestop (where everybody knows my name), they got the game in late last week and it's street dated until Tuesday. I'll be snagging it the moment the doors open up.

it looks like the PS3 version has lower rez textures and renders at 3/4 resolution. I guess that firmly decides what version I'm getting. I can't say I'm surprised, but I am disappointed. I guess it's exclusives only on the PS3 from now on  crybaby

I can understand game companies struggling to release games of similar quality on both the 360 and the PS3 when this generation was new, as the PS3 was a bitch to learn to code for. At this point however, there's no excuse (particularly since the PS3 has become much easier to code for and has received a lot more documentation). If the PS3 version looks worse, that's only because of laziness.

i was just about to post that one Chaz,it has those 'roll over' type screen shots you can compare

a lot of PS3 people on the forums are going slightly apeshit over this, especially as the PS3 was the lead platform for the title

i can't really say it would ruin the game that much,at least for me...but it is a little compensation for me because of SONY delaying the Wii/PC/360 version in Europe

yeah, I can imagine the fanboys are going to have a field day with this one. In all honestly it still looks good, and the framerate keeps up. (if I didn't see the comparison I'd probably be satisfied with either one) but since I have the choice, I choose sharper.

My understanding is that it has a coop campaign mode with 4 sets of mini-campaigns where each character has a weapon specialization which can be upgraded through each of the campaigns.

I've read all the early reviews but nobody has really talked much about coop  crybaby

I made it to TRU and was only 12th in line of about 25 (for the Wii version, the other three didn't have lines). I only had time to play about 30 minutes worth of coop with the wife but it's an absolute blast, and it's definitely the storyline. The sensitivity takes a few minutes to master.

Actually Sony didn't delay anything in Europe. The publisher dropped it and Sony picked it up for the PS3 while another publisher is doing the other two which is out in November. or you could just import it since the 360 version isn't region locked.

i just read Atari are doing the later versions in Europe....tossers

I had them toss a soft package containing $80 of clothing onto my 2nd floor apartment's balcony.  They were nice enough to leave a note at the door that they had played frisbee with my nice, new work shirts.

So, here's some impressions after about an hour or so of gameplay:

1) It feels like I'm in a Ghostbusters movie. I love it. biggrin
2) Ray's voice seems spot on with him in the movie (from nearly 2 decades ago). Winston's as well. Egon's a bit off (but he didn't age well), and Peter's doesn't sound quite right. But beyond all of that, the voices work great in following #1.
3) The game on Normal is surprisingly difficult. I like that. Ghosts take a pounding to take down, and gives you a lot of satisfaction once you drop them into a trap.
4) The 'lifebar' mechanic works out well so far - if you get 'killed', somebody comes over and revives you. You'll be doing the same to your teammates. You'll want to make sure they're standing, as you will get overwhelmed without their support.
5) And on #4's note - your teammates will actually catch ghosts if you're otherwise occupied. Very good in making the entire game feel like a team one.
6) You'll quickly come across some familiar sights/places/ghosts from the movies. biggrin
7) Oh yes - so far, the story is funny as hell. The actors still got it.

Any real negatives...let's see...

1) Load times are pretty ugly. They're hidden behind the cinema scenes however, so you'll never have any problems unless you die. Expect a good 10-15 second pause (with HD install) whenever that happens.
2) Some framerate drops (running the 360 version at 1080p). Nothing too bad though. Just noticed them.

Overall, I'm loving this game. Well worth it so far. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a city to save. biggrin

first impressions based on around an hour cause i got hungry. still tracking down the fisherman ghost

The humor is definitely on par with the movies. It's been great so far.
I love the jokes about winston.
The way they did the UI is nice. It keeps the screen nice and clutter free. I wish I could adjust the camera angle just a slight bit to the left more, but oh well.
Either I need to get use to the game or it's a bit on the difficult. Not saying it's a bad thing, I think it's just about right. I wasn't expecting it. This is using the default setting.
Trapping ghosts is fun. It's pretty satisfying doing all that work and bagging them. Plus destroying things as you do it is also part of the fun.
I've noticed a few FPS slowdown, but not too bad.
Being able to upgrade stuff is awesome.
