I used to have a DS but traded it into Gamestop after not really playing it much.
Now with age of kings, metroid prime hunters, resident evil, among others, I'm thinking of picking one up again.
Leaving for Chicago on tuesday for the entire week and am thinking of picking one up to bring with me so I have something to do, but with the light version already out in Japan, is it better to wait and get the new version,(Anyone know when it's supposed to be released here?) or does it really matter at all?

Wait for the lite version. I played around with them for a while at GDC and I like them much better than the originals. They're smaller, the screen is brighter, they have a cleaner look, etc....

Lite ones should be out this may. Probably worth waiting
However, I'd sell you my original for like 75 bucks if you want, the case has some scratches, but the screens are in great condition, I could even overnight it to where you're staying in Chicago. Heck I am even selling/trading some of the games you want as we speak.
I'm gonna get the Lite, so I'd like to move mine out.

Wait for the Lite. However, shame on you for selling it after you already bought it. Not sure why people do that. If games aren't out yet...wait...they eventually come. For instance, my PSP sat untouched for many months, but now I have a ton of great games for it all bought within the last month.

I say get one now. The only reason I'd get the lite is for the brighter screens. But the brightness of the current one has never bothered me. Just knowing that a version is coming out with brighter screens kind of makes me want a brighter screen, but that's just a mental thing. Bravo, Nintendo. The smaller size of the lite could be worse if you have large hands like me too.

yeah wait for light,i wish i had done the same,thankfully they have moved the power button to the side of the machine now....as when i play games on my DS if i get over passionate on that D-pad my thumb sometimes slipps onto the power button...DAMN!!!
