It will be expensive plus they aren't even using the most powerful Radeon card in those tests (the X850 XT or whatever) and they are using a 6800 GT Ultra, which is slightly higher than even you are looking at (at least a hundred more expensive, just a guess though).

Pictures of BF2 on that card is
And I thought it looked at least good when I could get my FX 5600 to go to some of the medium settings and 1024x768.
I won't ever be able to justifiy the price on this card but man when I win the lottery look out! Pig

Those BF2 pics still seem really jagged.

CK - obviously the "jaggies" you are witnessing are what we call tracers from intake of too much crack - how else could you critique that virtual eye candy? t-minus 17 years before the real world becomes "obsol33t"

Those BF2 pics still seem really jagged. I noticed the same thing, especially on the middle one with the 4 soldiers. Definately not "holy crap" material there. It looks almost like they did not turn AA on.

For me, what those charts all add up to is, the 6800 Ultra is fast enough for any game they can find to test the 7800 on... at least at 16x12 which is what I run. Perhaps if you wanted to run 2048x1536 the 7800 would help.

It was this moment that took the movie from being a little ho-hum to “holy shit, did that shark just eat a plane!?”

"Once the price drops on the 6800, I need to snag one, or maybe TWO for SLI action."

Although this was probably overlooked, the card is supposedly available today in retail outlets...for $600 (and you have to have PCI-E, it is not available in AGP as of yet). Here are the first ones at CompUSAAt the top of the AnandTech Article is a list of sites with it for sale. As far as I can see, no price drop has happened on the other cards as of yet. Also, reading into the AnandTech article it seems the power consumption on the 7800 is lower than the 6800

There are far better sites that hone in on this type of stuff than IGN: The aforementioned AnandTech Firing SquadHard[OCP]Tom's HardwareAll links above go directly to the article (except for Tom's which brings up a list of 7800 articles). Let's not propigate IGN, there are sites that deal more personally with this sort of thing.
