It's like any other really large chaotic forum.  You have to have your filters on, and only pay attention to either what you are looking for, or specific people who have something to say.

I've been checking out the FF3 forum lately.  At GameFAQs especially, if there aren't many official faqs, a lot of times the forums have a lot of information (and strangely enough, mini-faqs which never get submitted to the faq page).

What he said.  Don't carry any valuables and avoid dark alleys, but amazingly there is good information to be found in the Gamefaqs forum.  You can find FAQs that haven't been posted on the main page yet, and like unbreakable says, some guides that never make it to the main page.

As far as the discussions in the forum? No. I always regret posting. I seem to do it about every six months, then remember why I don't bother regularly participating. :icon_eek:

But as the others pointed out, between the FAQs and threads on the boards, you can find a wealth of useful info there.

Yeah, they're pretty bad.  And the fact that it's the same board for both GameFAQs and Gamespot doesn't help.  Oh, and they won't let you edit.  As for finding info, it's great if that info is already there, but I've never had luck requesting help.

I've posted once.  I was banned immedately.  I'm not kidding either.  Apparently, just answering somebody's question about my review was taboo.  Fine bunch of folks over there...fine.

Actually yeah I was posting in the General forum for the PSP.  I think it would be best to avoid the general forums for ALL of the consoles as they seem to attract the idiots who have nothing better to do.

Dunno, I frequent the PSU and RS:V Gamefaqs boards.
You cant really go in there expecting much to begin with.
I post a question, and get an answer.. .. ..  eventually.
Allot of people enjoy the "I know the answer, but I have decided to be a wise ass about it" scenarios.
Makes them feel loved.

I helped a guy out with Neverwinter Nights once.  That went okay.

Usually I just check it out if I have an issue with a game and want to see if others are having the same.

I went there the other day looking for Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops tips and got spoiled up the ying-yang because of the subject titles.  Awesome.
