Finished in 2007:

• Final Fantasy XII - PS2 - 95 hours in, finished main quest and have finished a good portion of the sidequest material. I'll go back to it eventually to finish the extra hunts, espers, etc.
• Guitar Hero - PS2 - I finally conquered Expert mode and achieved Rock God status!
• Guitar Hero 2 - 360 - Expert Freebird fell to my mad skills! Woo! Now I just can't wait for the 360 editions so that I can have leaderboards to keep me pushing myself further and further.
• Guitar Hero 3 - 360 - Completed the career mode on Hard, which was fairly tough (about the same level of challenge as GH1's Expert difficulty). I've toyed with songs on Expert in Quick Play mode over the last few weeks, and to be honest, the difficulty ramping and control imprecision that I'm finding in GH3 just leaves a lot of the higher end songs on Expert to be too ridiculously difficult to be fun. I have no motivation to actually bother forcing myself to play through Expert, so for me, GH3 is conquered with Hard defeated on this outing. Game is now a title in my library rather than a title in the backlog.
• Dead Rising - 360 - Finally cracked down and beat this clear through Overtime Mode to successfully get the true ending. It's out of my backlog and just hanging around for fun and achievements/leaderboard gameplay.
• Final Fantasy III - DS - Pretty fun, but somehow not quite as great as the other titles in series that I've played through. Once I play through FF2 GBA (on the 1-2 combo pack) I will have played through the entire franchise.
• Viva Pinata - 360 - I pretty much unlocked everything and got the full 1000 achievement points; the only game I've actually accomplished that on, in fact!
• Pokemon: Pearl - DS - Through the story (main quest) and defeated the Final Four and the champion. Of course, now that leaves the great post-game stuff to enjoy, but at least I can list this as a "beaten" game for 2007! Frankly, I love games I can beat that leave lots of great post-game fun to enjoy as an option or sidequest content to go back and play further to enjoy (Pokemon, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest 8's post-game epilogue, Diablo 2's additional difficulties with new items, powers, & enemies, etc)
• Yoshi's Island 2 - DS - Not as great as the original, but still a solid, fun, and at times challenging game. Worth a playthrough if you've played the original, if you haven't, GO PLAY THE ORIGINAL! The original Yoshi's Island is a superb, classic 2d platformer!
• Blue Dragon - 360 - Just in time to call it a "finished in 2007" title, eh? Just over 60 hours of gaming goodness; the 2nd disc got pretty tedious and dull for a while, but fortunately finished strong. The third disc was great all the way through, going for all the secrets and optional challenges was the most fun I had with the game.

Playing Currently:

• Neverwinter Nights 2 - PC - Two friends of mine both have recently finished and strongly recommend this now, so it's next up on my "big game" queue.
• Puzzle Quest - 360 XBLA - Good grief this is addictive. I haven't been this hooked on a puzzle title since Tetris Attack, and I think this may just be even more fun and addictive!
• Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker - DS - I play this in very short stints since picking it up during Thanksgiving, but somehow have managed to hit 25 hours played as of the end of December. Crazy! It's a lot of fun, a nice appetizer while I wait for the real DQ titles to come to the DS!
• Rogue Galaxy - PS2 - Technically it's on hiatus but I'm still popping it in and working on it when I can, but I still don't foresee it showing up on the "completed" list for a long time. Probably not until 2008 in fact. I think I'm still just short of halfway through the story mode with roughly 25 hours played.

Discarded:

• God of War - PS2 - Man, what a repetitive and mind-numbingly crass game. I got about halfway through and finally just got so bored that I couldn't force myself to finish it. While some of the puzzle aspects and occasionally creative challenges were great (some truly fantastic action sequences in this game, as well as some very impressive graphics and art direction), the overwhelmingly dull drone of constant repetitive combat along with the ridiculously juvenile and ass-hattish "personality" of Kratos just killed the game's fun factor for me.

SHELVED
-  Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.  I had high hopes for this one, but it just blows.  For an "action-packed FPS", this is one of the most boring games I've ever played.
-  Indigo Prophecy.  Decent concept and story, horrible control system felt like I was running my characters through mud.
-  Battle for Middle Earth 2.  Try as I might, I just can't get into RTS games.  Even my two favorite settings (Star Wars & LotR) can't keep me interested. 
-  Xenosaga III.  Too.  Damn.  Boring
-  Planescape:  Torment.  Was trying to play through Gametap, and ran into some serious technical issues.  Sound stuttering, game freezes, etc.  Tried again with the CD version, got to nearly the exact same spot, then just petered out and lost interest. 
-  Enchanted Arms.  Generic RPG 101.  There was seriously not a single thing in this game that made it stand out.  Boring combat, dull characters (with piss-poor voice overs to boot), and an unengaging story.
-  Brave Story.  Again, an utterly generic, soulless RPG.

First Eagles: Great Air War 1918 (PC) - Since it has random campaign missions you cant really finish it, but want to track it anyways to see how many games I buy this year.

Armed Assault (PC) - Finally get some OFPstyle MP thanks to JIP. Still playing OFP too though since it has different missions/more content.

STALKER (PC) - Never followed its dev much, but I am really digging it, especially the atmosphere and drawn out firefights.

Hidden & Dangerous 2 (PC) - $7 Bargain bin. Looking for this locally but never saw it so ordered it online. I just can't resist tactical FPS. Resisting GRAW since GRAW2 is out soon and want to see how it goes to decide which I get.

XIII (PC) - Couldnt resist the $5 bargain bin. Seems like its worth a play thru just for its style and it didn't add anything to shipping with my HD2 purchase.

Titan Quest (PC) - Had a $5 off cpn from BB so grabbed this for $15. Only played Diablo demo so new to the whole action RPG as I don't really have other games like it.

Battle of Britain 2 (PC) - FE meets my WW1 flying bug but needed a WW2 one as I cant fly IL2 even on easy. Only tried the instant flight sim action of BOB2 so far but enjoy it. Reminds me of RB3D but in WW2 instead of WW1. Not bad for $20.

Freelancer (PC) - Never had it back when so grabbed it for $10 and modded it up.

GTA:SA (PC) - Liked VC so decided to nab this since its been $20 forever.

Battlefield 2 (PC) - Saw it for $10. Liked 2142 so decided to get a JOps replacement.

Two Worlds (PC) - Craved an RPG even though my backlog is full of them. Enjoyed the demo so got the full version.

Bioshock (PC) - Could not resist the multi forum effects on this one.

Finished:
Half Life 2 (PC) - Had stalled out on a it a few times and got distracted by other games. If I only knew I had just 30mins left I would have finished it long ago. Enjoyed it and might go back to play bits and pieces but I have other games to play and prefer more tactical FPS nowadays.

NWN - Diamond Ed. (PC) - Think this is my 2nd most played game after CS. Finished all the modules that came in the Diamond edition and played on a few persistent worlds for many hours. Probably take a break and then get a few of the other premium modules.

Morrowind (PC) - Finally finished the main quest. I still dig the atmosphere and have places I want to explore. Stalled when it first came out due to the journal but picked up the Gold edition in Mar06. Took 74hrs per Xfire of on/off again gaming. Now to finish Oblivion and explore bits of the MW expansions.

Ghost Recon 1 (PC) - Stalled out on missions 7 in SP but played a tons of MP. Finally went back and focused on finishing. Still a great tactical game. Still need to go back and finish the exp packs though.

Chronicles of Riddick (PC) - Picked up on a cheap trade and was quite good as all have said. Definately up for a reply after I get some other backlog FPS completed.

Max Payne 2 (PC) - Stalled 1/3 way through long time ago. Finally came back to finish the job. Good game.

Two Worlds (PC) -Not bad for a non big dev game. Made me think of Titan Quest having babies with Gothic. Not the best title but good if your looking for an action RPG to pass the time.

STALKER (PC) - PostApoc setting + open level design and some RPGlike quests makes this one of my fav FPSs. Can't wait for patch to do another play through with more mods or the Clear Skies 'sequal'.

Farcry (PC) - Finally got around to finishing this one. Enjoyed the openness of the levels. Good mix of outdoor/open fighting and corridor fighting. Didn't even mind the mutants until the last 2 levels.

Hmmm...  I don't think I finish games anymore.  I play just about everything and finish just about nothing.    Wait, I know.. I've finished all four of the Sam n Max episodes, those are great!

My ideal single-player game world would be really mind-blowing 3 to 5 hour games for about $10.   There's so many 50-60 dollar games that end up feeling like drawn out fluff past the point where you "get" the game, and they just add more floor to traverse or the same enemies in different flavors. 

I tend to mostly play shooters casually, because I can pick up and put down multiplayer for any amount of time and have fun without worrying about remembering my place in the story, relearning controls, etc.  (lately that's been Shadowrun, Vegas, GRAW 2 and another game I cannot speak of yet.)

Gears of War Got to the last boss. Seriously hard and very frustrating. Maybe I'll finish it off someday.

Saints Row Good GTA clone. Sorta plugging away at this one every now and then.

Company of Heroes Same as Saints Row, play a mission every once in awhile. Will finish eventually.

Finished:

God of War II - Very fun. Definite buy if your a fan of first one.

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic. Good game once its patched up.

Daxter[PSP] Good platfomer. Definite pickup if your a fan of the series.

GRAW[360] Late to the game with this one. Overall a well done game, with really nice graphics and usually good AI.

Condemned[360] A fun game overall with good melee combat and some spooky settings. The ending was the usual mix of half answers and a setup for a sequel which I wish games didn't do so much of.

Bioshock Great game overall despite some niggling flaws and it being a little to similar to a SS2 player like myself, but the overall package was very well done. GOTY for me so far.

Medal of Honor: Airborne Ok game. Has some nice graphics and the open levels make the game play a nice change from the linear stuff of past games. The endlessly re-spawning enemies can be annoying as your AI teammates aren't much more than fodder. Worth a rental.

Halo 3 Good single player game, nothing really new but still fun. Multiplayer is still pretty much just Halo 2 with better graphics but the matchmaking system is still one of the best around and maybe Forge can inject some longer life into the game. Worthwhile purchase for the overall value if you like FPS.

HL2:Episode 2 Well done continuation of the Half-Life story. Nothing really different in general gameplay, but it has the usual Valve polish. Needs more of "Dog" though. 

Call of Duty 4 Probably the best version of the "run and gun" scripted shooter. Its got some great set pieces but I'll admit I'm getting burned out on this type of game after playing so many of them.

Mass Effect Another great game from Bioware. Great characters and story with a combat system that grows on you  after awhile. There are some problems with a few repetitive environments and occasional pathfinding of your AI partners, but overall its very satisfying game with allot of quality gameplay.
