Get my spot on the list now.  Finished 20 games last year, not counting Payday 2 as it doesn't have an ending.
On the front backlog burners:
MGS3/PW - I really want to have these two finished before MGS GZ.
Tales of Xillia - Bought cheap on the sale, hoping to get a good vibe from a JRPG.

Currently playing
Skylanders Swap Force - (with son) now we are playing through to get the unlocks
Diablo 3 - Damned if I do, but this game is crack
Sniper Elite 3 - About 3/4ths done, but I really would like to wrap this up before it gets lost in the shuffle.

Finished:
Skylanders Swap Force (with son)
Walking Dead Season 2 through Episode 2.
Tearaway - great little game, but by the end, I really pushed forwards to beat it.  Have almost decided to skip going for the platinum as the 'beat x without dying' levels are a real PITA
AC IV - Finished this with 97% completion on the SP sync.  I might be giving MP a try first but otherwise, I'm done with it.
Rain - This was a quick little game and definitely not everyone's cup of tea.  Interesting concept, but they should have made it a bit longer.
Far Cry Blood Dragon - Fun diversion from the bigger games, but by the end, I was rushing through to finish it.
Brothers:  A tale of two sons - Beautiful visuals but fairly shallow in gameplay.
Journey - Not sure about the ending, but as they go, it's a beautiful game, even though it's rather light on the 'game' aspects.
Killzone Mercenaries - Great example of how well a FPS can be done on the Vita
Machinarium
Stick it to the Man! - I love the art style and the mechanics.  If anything, it's a bit short though.
CastleStorm
NFS Most Wanted - Great port on Vita with lots of races, cars and mods to unlock and master.
Thomas Was Alone
SteamWorld Dig - Fun digging game with a great progression system.  Nothing to tricky but worth playing.
Uncharted Golden Abyss - Beaten last year.  Finished up Crushing playthrough and got the platinum trophy.
Infamous Second Son - Finished both good/evil playthroughs and did everything I could.  Great game if a little short.
Muramasa Rebirth - Good action side scroller with great art
Unit 13 - Surprisingly good action game and sadly from a dead developer
MGS Ground Zeroes - Short and fun taste of MGS V.
Tomb Raider - 2nd playthrough.  Enjoyed it just as much as the first time.
Transistor - Beautifully designed art and voice cast and a combat system that gets more complex as you play.
Y's Memories of Celceta - I enjoyed this a lot.  Great action-rpg, cliched story that does get better the more you play.
Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate - I was hyped to replay this on PS4 and ended up playing and beating it on Vita.
MGS GZ - Short and interesting peak into the new engine.  Makes me excited for Phantom Pain, so that much was successful
CoD: Ghosts - The SP story makes less sense than a Michael Bay remake of an 80's children's cartoon and has twice as many bro-splosions.  Still fun and nice to look at.  Finished on Hardened difficulty, even though it wasn't that bad.
Counterspy - The randomness of the levels and enemy placements are a big reason why the fails at times and is fun at others.

on hiatus
Dragon's Crown - A pretty fun game in short bursts despite the unnecessary fan service.
Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate - Countering the final boss' attacks is no fun when the timing has changed.
Guacamelee - I should finish this and worry about the getting the tough as nails on vita hidden collectibles later.
Payday 2 - MP group has faded out.
Rayman Legends - Fun but the Murfy levels are pretty bad.
Sly Cooper 4 - I never got that into it last year, but it's a lot of fun and plays well enough on Vita.
Thief - Great environments even though they are much tighter than in previous games.
Killzone Mercenaries - Working towards most of the trophies that I can get and enjoying it still
Killzone Shadow Fall - I want to see the rest of the game after the Dead Space inspired second level.
Luftrausers
Watch_Dogs - the wheels fell off of this one and I'm a little disappointed in how it turned out.

Resigned to the backlog
XCom Declassified - Despite all indications this was a poor game, I gave it a chance.  Should have skipped this one instead.
Defender's Quest - Addictive little time waster; part tower defense, part RPG.  Great combination.  I haven't had much time on pc lately.

Reserving the spot.  2013 is here, a pretty good year all things considered.

FINISHED IN 2014[/u]
-  Metal Gear Rising Revengence (PC) - B+ (Feb 2).  Far more fun than it had any right to be.  The Bayonetta influence was certainly there, with equal parts ridiculousness and flat out crazy fun.  8 hours.
-  Word Mage (iOS) - B (March 5).  A hyperactive RPG-ified version of Bookworm.  Very hectic gameplay, with a unique skill and collecting mechanic.  Felt a little unfinished though...only one spell slot available, only 20'ish stages, etc.  Took about 3 hours to finish.
-  Thief (PC) - A- (March23).  Mediocre reviews be damned, I thoroughly enjoyed this new version of Thief.  It's not the same "go anywhere, do anything" game that we're used to, but it's still a fantastic stealth game in it's own right.  The only thing I didn't really care for was the ending, which was both lame and made no sense.  Other than that, I had a blast with it.  22 hours.
-  Diablo III:  Reaper of Souls - B+ (April 12).  Played all the way through with a Crusader, making it the 5th time through the game.  Really enjoyed this class, as well as some of the changes they made.  Wasn't crazy about the final act or the ending, but Adventure mode made it all worth it.  62 hours
-  Final Fantasy XIV (PC) - A (May 31).  I liked FF XIV as a tank...but I loved it as a DPS.  Got a Bard to 50 and finished the main story.  Still lots more I plan to do.  Easily my favorite MMO of all time, and an absolute blast.  ALL THE HOURS.

Currently Playing
-  Final Fantasy VI (iOS)
-  Final Fantasy X HD (PS3)

Played and Gave Up On
-  Y's:  Memories of Celecta (Vita):  The whole thing was just rather dull.  I also decided to ditch the Vita, so Y's went in the trash heap.  6 hours.
-  Gridiron Solitaire (PC):  An amazing effort by Bill Harris, and a pretty fun game.  The wonky AI really killed it though, as it would make calls that made no sense given the game situation.  12 hours.
-  Crysis 3 (PC):  Looks pretty, but the basic gameplay is pretty boring.  Drove me nuts getting constantly shot at when I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  2 hours.
-  Strike Suit Zero (PC):  A fun diversion in a genre I don't typically frequent.  I actually enjoyed the basic ship shooting more than the fancy Strike Suit.  2 hours
-  The Last of Us (PS3):  I get why everyone loved this game, but it simply wasn't my cup of tea.  The story was decent, but I really didn't like the pseudo-stealth gameplay.  3 hours.
-  Titanfall (PC):  I can definitively say once and for all that online MP games are just not for me.  2 hours.
-  Bravely Default (3DS):  An absolutely brilliant first half...and one of the worst second halves I've ever seen.  You literally just play through the same game twice, it was padding at it's most egregious.  40 hours.
-  Might & Magic X Legacy (PC):  I heard someone say this game "scratched an itch I didn't know I had".  Was hoping that would be the case with me, but I found that I simply don't have that itch.  At all.  Ever.  3 hours.
-  The Banner Saga (PC):  I so want to like this game, but it just isn't clicking.  Will get the iOS version, hopefully that will have better luck.  2 hours.

Woo, I'm the first one to add an actually finished game to my list this year! slywink

Finished 34 games last year, which is a personal best since I started writing these logs. Took a solid chunk out of my backlog too. The year was very back-heavy, with only a few titles completed in the first half. I expect 2014's games to be mostly for PC and PS4 for my part.

Previous years:

Games Finished in 2014

PC
  • Broken Age - Act 1
  • Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
  • Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Revelations DLC
  • Consortium
  • Game Dev Tycoon
  • Gunpoint
  • Kentucky Route Zero - Act 1
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth
  • Spec Ops: The Line
  • The Wolf Among Us - Chapters 2, 3, 4 and 5

PS4
  • Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition - Or at least got a character well beyond level 70.
  • Fez - Collected everything, including all the trophies.
  • Flower
  • Infamous: Second Son - Platinum trophy
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • The Last of Us Remastered + Left Behind
  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes - Ended 2013 by finishing the story mode. Started 2014 by getting the platinum trophy. smile
  • Outlast
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order - Platinum trophy

PS3

Vita
  • Tearaway
  • Thomas Was Alone - Including all trophies

3DS
  • Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice
  • Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations
  • Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies
  • Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Only nine games finished last year...yet more proof that life gets in the way of gaming as I get older. There are some great experiences on that list though, with The Last of Us  easily being my game of the year. Let's see what 2014 and a new console generation bring...

Finished

Grand Theft Auto V - March 23
Splinter Cell: Blacklist - July 8

Finished:

Jan 27 - The Last of Us (PS3) Amazing experience, but I need to go detox on Mario or something.  That's enough dark and bleak for quite a while.

Feb 6 -  Assassins Creed: Revelations (PS3) MOTS, but I've really enjoyed Ezio's story.

Apr 1 - Bioshock Infinite: Buried at Sea Episode 2 (PC) Much better than Episode 1, but the brief trip back to Columbia made me realize how much I didn't care for that setting.  Hopefully future entries in the series will be set in Rapture.

April 21 - Fallout New Vegas: Dead Money (360)

May 1 - Fallout New Vegas: Honest Hearts (360)

May 31 - Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues (360)

Aug 29 - Fallout New Vegas: Lonesome Road (360) While this was supposed to wrap up the Courier's story, I felt they were trying too hard to be clever, and it just became cryptic.  Never understood what exactly Ulysses deal was.  Maybe I'm just suffering from Fallout fatigue.

Sept. 9 - Fallout New Vegas (360) Whew!  106 hours, finished the main game and all DLC.  Raptr says 123 hours.  At any rate, that's the most I've put into a single game since WOW some 5 years ago.  Just in time for Wasteland 2.

This is my first year tracking the games I've completed in real-time. I know I average completing around 8-12 games per year and it's probably going to be the same this year, though with so many short indie games out there these days that could change.

Games Completed in 2014

Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance (PC)
Hotline Miami (PC)

Both Dishonored DLC. Okay, but shows the limits of DLC. Not enough time to develop the character and pretty short, especially Knife of Dunwall. But it was more of Dishonored, which is a good thing.
The Banner Saga.
Far Cry 3. took about 2 hrs to get into it for me. Really enjoyed the middle, then clearing the last couple of towers and forts had become somewhat boring. I did enjoy the game over all.
Castlevania-had to quit in the middle as it became impossible to finish with M/K. Bummer as I was enjoying it.
Metro Last Light- somewhat of a letdown. Did not like it as much as the first. Too relentlessly linear.
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Very fun. Exactly what I was looking for.
Shadowrun returns: Dead man switch. Fun game, a little short.
Enclave. Simple action RPG but for $1 I had a great deal of fun with it.
Two worlds 2 Pirates of the flying Fortress. More TW2 goodness!! 13+ hr DLC is a nice big slice as well.
