It looks like Deus Ex kicked our asses. So far—after six weeks of play and with ten days left—only two of us have made it through the whole game… But let us not falter! With full confidence, we march onward to our third game! We shall overcome the backlog! We shall travel back in time to relieve that nagging ache caused by so many great games missed. We shall find joy in lost treasures! And yes, we march forward to pick our third Game of the Month! This poll is used to select the GT Game of the Month. Choose the game you'd like to play in May. Obviously anyone can vote, but please only vote if you intend to play the game you vote for. We'll play the game that gets the most votes in the months of May and June. For this vote, we'll switch things up a bit. Instead of using a poll, we'll use a simple "post your vote" style. To vote for a particular game, make a post with your choice of game in it. I'll keep things updated with a running tally now and then. Voting will close at noon CST on Friday, April 24. For full details, see this thread. Here are this Month's Candidates, selected with arcane scientific logic and unfailing randomness: Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS)An action/adventure game from 2005, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow earned a solid 89 Metacritic rating, which makes it the 7th highest ranked game on Metacritic’s DS scoreboards. Available used for around $20. The Darkness (XBox 360, PS3)A first-person shooter focusing with elements of both horror and crime solving. Earned a strong 80-82 rating on Metacritic. Available on the cheap. Released in 2007. God of War (PS2)Often included in "Best PS2 Game" discussions. 2005 release. Received a 94 on Metacritic. Available for under $10 on Half.com Gun (Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube)A rare western-themed game from 2005. Garnered 75 to 79 ratings on Metacritic. Available at moderate prices on a bunch of platforms. And there we have it! Vote well! Any questions? Just email [email protected].

I'll cast my vote for God of War. I did that despite being quite torn between it and Castlevania DoS. I have DoS and I've tried to play it, but got stuck about 1/4 the ways in.

I haven't played a DS game in a while, so I'm actually going to vote Castlevania. BTW, I'm still planning to finish DX, it just might not be in April. I got kind of burned out on it, but I'll probably go back to it this weekend. I'm at the point where

It's much too early to tell, but maybe we're heading to a three-way race? I thought God of War would be a shoe-in given its showing the last time, but Castlevania and The Darkness are getting some early love.
Teggy - No problem at all on Deus Ex. And yeah, those spiders suck. They were one of the few things that gave me trouble in the back half of the game. I tended to save my EMP grenades just for them, though, and by the end of the game I always seemed to have enough.

Same here. I already finished God of War a long time ago but I only scratched the surface of God of War 2. I'm just not quite up for playing through God of War all over again, primarily because of the final battle, but also because it look me a long time to finish. This "Game of the Month" club might provide enough motivation for me to get back into God of War 2. If not this month, perhaps we could consider God of War 2 for next month.

With two days to go, God of War has opened up a slim lead.
Not a problem at all to include God of War 2 in a future vote. I'll make a note of it for next time.

I've been working on a redesign and a direction change with the blog, but something got mucked up with the database while I wasn't watching. I've been meaning to get back in there and fix it. Got to do that soon. Thanks for pointing it out, though.

Drum Roll...
The Winner is...
God of War!
Dust off those PS2s. We'll start in a week. I'm excited for this one. I hope I can finish it though. I played a half hour of God of War on the PSP. I thought it was hard.

The first Boss in the PSP version (The Dragon thing) is one of the hardest bosses in the game. After that one the rest of the bosses are easy to medium.

Some thoughts... I was in a GameCrazy over lunch and they had a used copy for $9. I think they are even running a buy two get one free used game sale on games under $10. At the moment, Half.com has 22 "like new" copies starting from $6.50 plus $3.50 shipping, so you can probably find one there from a good seller for $10 to $12. Linkie.

Linkie.Goozex has copies available if you are down with the trading thing. (or you could essentially buy a copy for $15 - actual cost about $8.50, but you have to buy groups of points/trade tokens).

So far, yes, it sounds like it. A couple of people have commented that they're having no problems running it on a BC-capable PS3.
