I'm just wondering if anyone here is interested in this game or not since it is the only real golf simulation coming out this year. I'm really thinking about picking up the PC version of the game because it is $10 cheaper, has online play and better graphics.
I liked last year's game on Xbox although I never purchased it. I've waited and waited for the price to drop on Tiger Woods 2004 and it just recently went to $29.99, but why get it now with the new one coming out in under 2 weeks?
There are 8 new courses and 2 fantasy courses (plus you can make or edit your own course) to go along with what has already been there. There are more PGA Tour golfers like new #1 Vijay Singh. A new Legend Mode where you take on the best golfers (both real and made-up) and supposedly a more robust Game Face system than last year.
I think I'm going to go with the PC unless the reviews are rotten for it...how about you guys?

Initially...if I can hold off...
OUT!
I liked it last year but there's just too much good stuff being released.
Unless I can find a good deal, this one is going to have to wait!

LInks 2005 doesn't exist right?
If that's the case, than I'll probably be picking up Tiger.

I buy PC Tiger every year. It's way, WAY better than the console version.
The gameplay is drastically different.

How is swinging done? I've heard last year was pretty revolutionary, but can you explain it? I'm thinking I'll go with PC on this one as well.

I would like to know that too. The swinging on the controller just seems so right, I can't imagine doing it on a keyboard.

I think it's mouse controlled. The way it sounds like to me you pull back on your mouse and push forward to swing. It also sounds like they had the 3-click method last year as well. gellar might be able to explain things though since he has played it.

Yeah , Mike, I grew tired of Tiger sooner than usual last year so I really think I'm OUT!
Hockey soon, maybe next week?

It's been mouse control for a while now (I think back to Tiger 2002). As someone who golfs, I found the mouse to be much easier and more realistic than an analog stick. The range of motion is far greater and you're pretty much using your whole arm instead of just your thumb.
TW for the PC allowed me to turn all aids off and just swing/putt with no meters or bars. I could never do this in Links because the thumbstick didn't feel right for me.
And yes, they do also have triple click.

Hmm apologies for opening up a very old thread. I'm just looking at getting a Golf game - i've posted regarding prostroke golf which is just about to come out http://www.gamingtrend.com/forums/index.php/topic,14568.0.html which primarily uses the joypad controls, right stick controls the swing and left stick the face of the club. I've not played golf but I understand its not bad. In terms of Tiger Woods 05/06 is their much skill or is it just a case of clicking and ensuring the click hits the relevant marker points for best shot? Tals

Yea I co-sign that the pc version usually is way less arcadey than the console versions.
