You know, I don't understand why all the Xbox 360 console shots show the thing on its side like that. Yeah, it looks 'cooler', but as we all learned with the PS2, it's a really bad thing for the laser assembly.

Besides - my entertainment center has no room for a vertical console.

I've got to say that I am still not impressed,especially since only the front of the 360 will look like that, right? The rest will still be chrome.

I'd say hell pretty much needs to freeze over, before I'd even consider buying a faceplate on my to-be-X360.

It's a neat idea, but as Calvin said, the rest will still be chrome. Better just get a custom case for it later on.

I may take my faceplate and try and do something artistic with it.  I imagine a nice coat of primer on it would give you a nice blank slate to work with, or am I wrong?

As long as it is made for plastic.  I was painting my sun-bleached windshield wipers once with paint I poured into a plastic bowl and set on my hood.  Luckily I put newspaper down because the paint ate through the bottom of the bowl!  So beware.  I think the paint says on the bottle/can whether it is safe for plastics.
