Well, I ended up rolling my laptop back to Windows 7 today.  Thankfully Microsoft made that very easy to do (within the first month, at least).

There were just too many problems with drivers and things that were interfering with productivity, and since I'm now trying to work using my laptop that just became unacceptable.

I'll definitely still try it out in the future, assuming they fix these issues.  And it will go on my home desktop PC assuming there are no similar issues there.

Anyone else's PC turning on at 3:30 AM? It didn't do that under 8. Doesn't fire up the monitor or anything, just the case lights/drives come on for about 5 minutes. Assuming it's doing some sort of maintenance thing it must have added with 10.

Thankfully so far I have had zero issues with Windows 10.  All my hardware/drivers have worked without fail and all games have performed as well as they did under Windows 7.  I like Windows 10 enough that I went ahead and removed the files that would let me roll back so as to free up room on my OS SSD drive.

I believe that's the default 'checking for and applying updates' time. I think there's a way to see when exactly it is going to do such a thing.

This would also explain why I wake up some mornings and my laptop isn't 100% charged anymore, when it was when it went into Hibernation.

I may have fixed my issue where Filter Keys was getting turned on after an extended period of time. There were instances where I'd come back to find the screen locked and Filter Keys turned on. Going into accessibility settings would show they were turned off, but the keyboard wouldn't work properly until I rebooted.

I went into accessibility settings and under advanced unchecked the hotkey shortcuts for enabling Filter Keys, so that there was no way to turn them on via key press. Ever since then I have not had the issue occur. Don't understand the logic behind it, but so far so good.

I don't think I had ever even heard of the FilterKeys feature until now...   saywhat

Thanks, that's what it was, auto update. Only a big deal because my PC is in my bedroom, and the lights/fan are enough to wake me up. Set it to a reasonable 8 AM.

Ended up upgrading to Windows 10. Everything went swimmingly expect the system font style it used after the upgrade. The font is supposed to be Arial but the font it was using was something else. Like this 90's tech style font which made reading anything in the browsers or apps almost impossible.

After looking all over I couldn't find a single setting for changing the system font style - just the font size.

Finally found a reddit thread where some other people had the same issue. Looks like at some point in the past I installed a program that installed an Arial font, similarly named, and the upgrade was picking that up instead of the real deal. A Microsoft employee said they hadn't tested for it.  So your options were to either identify the program that installed the font and uninstall it or do a registry hack.

I made a guess that it was Open Office that installed the bad font and sure enough after I uninstalled it, then rebooted, everything was back to normal Arial.

Was pulling my hair out there for awhile trying to solve that though. Thankfully that's the only issue I've come across.

I upgraded last night and save for a weird situation during the install where I had to move my bootmgr file manually, everything went well. I love the new interface, it feels modern, clean, and intuitive. And on an SSD it boots ridiculously fast. I played about an hour of WoW and had no issues.
