Why in the world isn't this forum blowing up talking about Forza Motorsport?

This game looks fantastic!  I saw an ad in a magazine that made me go look into it, and man am I glad I did.  It looks like Gran Turismo for the Xbox, and how can you not like that?

I want to know everything there is about this title, then I want to play it.  It sounds like a dream come true, and you all are wandering around clearly ignorant of its very existance!

Come together and start spreading the word.  Forza Motorsport!

I did notice Purge had the game in his "Waitin'" list in his sig, so congrats to him for being ahead of the curve!

I love me some modz, yo.

smile It *is* about time someone stepped up to the plate and challenged Polyphony. I've enjoyed playing Gran Turismo, but the new one; 500 cars?? How many of those are mediocre cars? I like buying some older cars I've had (like a 90 Prelude SR 4WS) but I suspect they're inflating their numbers by including the Si model (bottom end) etc.. I dunno.

The problem with PGR2 (well, 2 of them) is :
1 - streets feel dead; there are no people around.
2 - since you can't really change the car, it doesn't feel like it's really yours.

I've always hated the prepackaged model (GT for instance, or Sega GT) where there's no user decision. If you can afford Turbo boost package 3, shit you're gonna take it cuz there's only benefit and no loss. You don't select between parts, you just go from

good - better - even better - way awesome - the best part(s).

When you play a game, it's all about your interesting decisions, like "do I want to sacrifice a heavier mod for more low-end torque" or "These wheels don't have all the *GO* power, but DAMN they got *SHOW* power".

The detail they showed with the neon is amazing. I really can't wait to see how Forza turns out.

I read somwhere that all of the tracks will have no repeating textures on them. I am definitely looking forward to this game. I played the hell out of GT1 &2, after that I got a little bored, mostly due to the dumbass driver AI, as in none. This game hopefully will do all the things right that the GT series can't....plus it's on my beloved xbox.

Good description, Purge.  I am really looking forward to the mods making a differnce.  For instance, in a car that handles poorly (yeah, probably driver error), I tend to use a lot of torque and adjust my gears to give me more acceleration since I am in the walls/spun out so much.  Just the simple ability to tune a car like that in GT made it more exciting for me.  These new parts and decisions you described sound like they will add even more depth.

GT taught be a lot of what I know about gear ratios, so thanks to Polyphony for that!  I just hope that Forza has the at least one Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4.  I love that car, particularly my 1000HP model in GT3!

That is correct.  When you skid against a rail, the paint transfer stays forever.  Same with marks in the pavement, damage to the car, and more.   I am writing a preview on the title where I'll see if I can't shed some light on some other goodies. smile

Did any of you play it at E3?  I didn't get a chance to play it but I watched a few people play it and it's beautiful.  The people I watched play it (Xbox girls), really sucked at it though so I didn't get to see that much racing, just a lot of crashing.

Reuters Newswire, January 14, 2005 : A canadian man has filed for divorce after his wife totalled 15 of his 23 cars. The estimated damage to the vehicles is over $480,000US; most of which was to fender flares and decals.

A spokeman for Microsoft commented : "It's great to see people taking care of their virtual cars, and we are committed to providing as realistic gaming experience as possible. On the other hand, I don't see why this guy is filing for divorce; it's JUST A GAME BUDDY!!".

In his wifes' defence (canadian spelling; get used to it), she states that he should have password protected his savegame, as she would not have been able to play his cars. She further comments that the starting cars aren't as cool as his cars; and she felt that she was half entitled to them.

In the court papers filed yesterday, she also stated that "If that bastard thinks he's getting the Xbox out of this divorce, he's bloody crazy."

Wow, that is an awesome car list.  I'm looking forward to this as much or more than I looked forward to PGR2.

Sweet! The '03 Focus 3-door SVT is in there.

I finally get to drive my car in video game form.

I've been waiting to do that for a while now biggrin

Of course, if they don't get the gearing right in-game I'll be pissed. So maybe it's not all good.

Anyway, I've been pumped for this game since it was first announced. IGN Cars keeps pretty up-to-date on it, and that's where I've been getting my info.

There better be more Nissans and Subarus on that list come release. Can't play a game like with without a Fairlady Z or a WRX sti.
