just saw this pop up on Steam for pre-order:  http://store.steampowered.com/app/201510/

Quote
Physics Engine capable of delivering over 20,000 fully destructible objects on every track
47 vehicles with everything from muscle cars, monster trucks, tanks, bulldozers and more
9 game modes plus challenge mode that incorporates all game modes into one 62 track race
10 racing environments with 62 different race tracks
3 stunt mode environments with 12 stunt tracks
    9 Destruction Derby Battle environments
All new Monster Truck, Nightshift, Off Road, and Speed modes
8 multiplayer modes with support for up to 16 players
Force Feedback support for racing wheels
Larger Destruction Derbies with 24 players
    Complete Chaos in Off-Road Mode
Complete Destruction in All new Monster Truck Mode
Head to Head in nightmarish, thunderous, rainy, fog weather in Night Shift Mode

probably not in on day one in hopes of it being discounted in the Holiday Sale, but it's definitely got my eye.

Normally I'd be in day 1 for a new Flatout game, but since this isn't being developed by Bugbear I'll have to take a wait and see approach.

The trailers make it actually look worse than the last Bugbear-developed game, though if it didn't have the Flatout name I might have given it a try.  They seem to have forgotten to put all the destructible crap around the track that helped make the Flatout games unique.

Oh damn to that, that definitely makes it a wait-&-see game for me too. I've really enjoyed a number of the racers Bugbear has developed - are they a thing of the past or are they working on another game?

They're working on the next Ridge Racer Unbounded game that looks like it could be pretty cool.  It is basically like an all city/street-based Flatout with drifting taking the place of destruction for boost generation, and it also has some sort of user made city-building feature that they haven't revealed a whole lot of details about.

OK cool. Well I guess that's a bit of a step up for Bugbear, as the Ridge Racer name is well known. I've personally never been much of a fan of that series, but with Bugbear as the dev I'll have to keep an open mind about this new entry.

my anticipation has now shifted from Flatout 3 to the new Ridge Racer... but it looks like the new Flatout has some inspiration from the Burnout series, so i think it'll be worth looking into at some point.
