87% from german Gamepro and 9/10 from opm uk (yeah they are official playstation mag but they have given quite a lot of ps3 games bad reviews). InFAMOUS REVIEW: PROS / General Quotes :
- The ultimate superpower is given on the last stretch, which, depending how deep you go into the side missions, comes after a good ten or so hours of gameplay.
- The game's not just a looker, it's also structured really smartly, which sounds like a dull thing to be good at, but is actually crucial and brilliant.
- You start off with the basics, such as a simple 'lightning bolt', draining electricity and climbing, REALLY good climbing. (They say later on it sometimes makes Uncharted and Assassin's Creed look dull in terms of the climbing).
- It's good in two ways: It's super-powered, for one thing, so Cole can drop from any height without hurting himself, catch any ledge without finger-tip slipping, and scale just about any building (or giant industrial crane) in the city. And it's also good because it FEELS brilliant, a lovely balance of speed, fluidity and looseness on the one hand, and path-finding challenge on the other.
- It's basically a big win, moreish and addictive wish a 'one more, mission, one more power' appeal that saw me complete the game twice over a four day weekend full of ruined bedtimes.
- The combat's deep and spectacular, the climbing is slick and intuitive, and the story's got enough depth behind the flashy hero/villain hook to fully merit that all-important second playthrough.
- There's genuinely nothing else like InFamous on Ps3, and it slots in very nicely alongside the machine's other big-name exclusives. People, we have another must-buy
CONS :
There are occasional frustrations when the game wants to lock you onto the wrong piece of scenery, but it's a muscular and liberating experience that makes Assassin's Creed seem clumsy and Prince of Persia feel like it's running on autopilot.
I'm really thinking about pre ordering now but will probably try a demo first as i dislike a lot of open world games but together with uncharted 2 beta i will probably buy it anyway. :p

Well, that's good news. Looking even more forward to this now.
What's with the "2" in the subject?
Ah, wait I just got it.
What's with the lack of an "s" in the subject?

Clearly Cole is one of a new breed of ubermensch. Very excited for both games. Infamous looked good from the beginning, but it's only gotten better. One thing I'd sad to hear about is the framerate hitches. One of the first things that caught my eye about infamous was how smooth the framerate was. Coming from GTA with it's low fps that constantly jumps up and down, having an open world with smooth gameplay and nice graphics would be great.

I'll be curious to see how this one compares to Prototype, since they are both doing similar things and coming out so close to each other.

I'm totally, 100% sold on Prototype. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is my all-time favorite superhero game, and an updated, expanded version of that is a guaranteed sale for me. inFamous has always been "the other superhero game." It's done by the Sly Cooper team and I loved those games, but it's always sounded so much bigger and more ambitious that I've been waiting to see how well they'd be able to pull it off. Also, electrical powers have never sounded quite as fulfilling as, say, grabbing a tank and hurling it into an Apache helicopter, so it's been a big "wait and see" throughout development. Now that the reviews are starting to trickle out, I'm really excited for this game! I think my PS3 is going to be seeing a lot of use over the next few months... -Autistic Angel

Eh, I'm actually not sold on Prototype, but that game will get a rental. However, it's not because I'm comparing it to infamous, rather Prototype is way too focused on generic violence and gore, which I've gotten enough of. But, the story interests me in the same way infamous' does, they start out pretty much the same way.

Pretty much signed up for this, myself. As long as they keep the gameplay as slick as in the Sly Cooper series, I'm good to go.

Yeah! More Sly! That said - I think it's like Insomniac and Ratchet and Clank - instead of directly jumping into their respective series, Sony asked them to make an original IP beforehand. Insomniac did that with Resistance, and then they worked on R&C. Frankly, I'm expecting the same to happen with InFamous and Sly.

Member of NeoGAF was nice enough to let me share the demo off him and I got some time to play around with it.
It's pretty fun, the climbing and stuff felt really organic, and the different powers were really cool. Fell in love with tossing those "lightning grenades."

You have to log in with the account that had original access to the demo, go to the Playstation Store, and go to the download list. I'm not really a sandbox guy, but the game plays well enough that I am most definitely buying it later this month...

I'm definitely more interested in Sly 4 (which Sucker Punch has all but confirmed they're working on) than Infamous, but I'll probably give it a shot as well - sounds interesting.

spent a couple hours with the demo, & will likely spend more, but, unless i can get more comfortable with the whole 'electric powers' part, will likely be passing on the game - basically, i loved everything about the demo but them, &, as much as i'm not into shooters, would've had more fun playing as nate drake. at least i'd be able to hit these guys from as far away as they can hit me - really didn't like the fact that enemies seem to zero in on you almost immediately, & sometimes from way the hell away, & from every whichaway, & kinda wished they'd allowed for more of a stealth approach to things. maybe i'm just being lame (hey, it's possible ), & it'll eventually click for me - everything else, the narration, the environment, the controls, & the climbing, felt very good...

another review courtesy of Engadget...pretty brief review without a lot of details, but he does call it "the greatest superhero game I've ever played." personally, i can't wait to check this one out...could really use a great new game for my PS3. i haven't compelled to pick up anything other than MGS4 and Uncharted so far, mostly due to using my 360 for multi-platform releases, but inFAMOUS will probably be the game to break that cycle...
