UMD auto-start?  That sounds like a useful option.

The visual player for music is pretty sex-ay.

Has video playback been improved in any way?  It sorta felt like things ran a little smoother...

Awesome!

Starting tomorrow, I will be able to download PS1 games from the Playstation Network store and play them on the PSP!  icon_biggrin This also enables PSP Remote play for the PS3.

Let's see...

Being able to play PS1 games on my PSP...

Or all the goodies I have on my 1.5 console, with a chance in the future of the hackers being able to 'emulate' version 3.0 (they've already said that 2.8 is ready to be cracked open)...

I'll stick with what I have.  icon_biggrin

yeah...doesnt work..it just goes to the little screen depending on what movie you have in(which it already did before the update anyway),you still have to press X for it to start

and yes i have enabled auto start in the system menu

edit:ahh it auto starts when you turn on the PSP with a UMD inside...not when the PSP is already on and you insert the UMD

I'm really interested to hear how this works.  Especially the prices and how they're going to manage the loss of two shoulder buttons and a second analog stick.

I dislike how I need a PS3 to play PSX games on my PSP.  That really sogs my kellogs.  I mean, I can't imagine it any other way, but still...

Guess I won't be playing PSX games then   :icon_sad:

Yeah..this is something I discovered some time ago...it means I get to wait a year or so....although, if they start releasing well done titles through the playstation store...I might find ways to cave early and get a PS3.

They won't offer emulation of titles that require that. At least that's my thought.

And last I heard, Sony will still offer some way of downloading the games onto your PSP directly without a PS3. Who knows when/if they'll still do this.

Great idea.  We saw how well that concept worked out when Nintendo tried it with Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.

Are you kidding? Sony has tried their damnest to get homebrew out of the PSP, and short of some 'original' ways of getting homebrew to work (specially modified versions for 2.71), you haven't been able to do that freely since 1.5.

Not that I would upgrade anyway, but the fact that you need a PS3 to play PSX games on the PSP is absurd.

Well whatever you do, just don't take it out on one of your BBW's!  icon_biggrin

As far as I know Sony is working on a way for PS1 games to be downloaded directly to the PSP, they probably made it like this now to encourage more PS3 sales. (Not like we could get one anyway though..)
