got my cables from Wal Mart for about $25 if i'm not mistaken.  if not, grab the set from Nintendo for $30.  they ship in a hurry from what i understand.

and oh ya, the Wii freakin' rocks.  has made my totally non-gaming wife a gamer!  now she's asking me when we can play!

as far as games go, what you like?  my favorites have been Madden, Tony Hawk, and Rayman.  alot of good stuff though.

Honestly, with the newness of the Wii, and my adjustment continuing to these controls, I am willing to try anything.

I got Zelda, which is pretty damn good.  One caviet, though.  I've never owned a Nintendo anything.  So, I've never played any other Zelda.  So far, I'm about thirty hours in.  I'm not sure how far that is in the game though.  I pretty sure I'm over the halfway point (I'm in the Snow Peak Mansion).

I'll be picking up Wii Play.  I got tired of trying to chase down a controller, so I just pre-ordered Wii Play.  Nunchucks I've been able to find.  No controllers, though.

In the near future, Disaster looks like it could be a good game.  I will be buying a GC controller for some Resident Evil, Metroid, Animal Crossing, etc. fun.

I won't lie, the Virtual Console eats up a lot of my gaming time. I love playing classic games with such ease. I have been playing Zelda some more, about 10 hours total game time and I am now done with the second dungeon. Overall I am pleased with the Wii, and truly feel that the future is much brighter for the machine than at the same time for the Gamecube.

So I finally stopped playing Wii Sports long enough to try some of the other games I got with my Wii yesterday.

Warioware:
I've always been a huge Warioware fan so there was never any doubt in my mind I would like this game.  The minigames aren't quite up to the level of Twisted!, but it's probably my second favorite entry in the series so far.  There are a couple of really stellar minigames mixed in with some pretty stupid ones....

Excite truck:
Hey, this is way better than reviews or the demo led me to believe!  I'm having a good time with this one so far, and I can't wait to try it multiplayer.  It even looks a lot better than I remember the last time I got to play a demo of it.

I haven't opened Zelda yet, as I know it will sop me from being able to play any other game.  I haven't touched Virtual Console either, but I think downloading Zelda will be my first priority smile

I bought the classic controller, figured that was a must. Are there any other accessories that are a must purchase? Is the memory inside the Wii adequate for game saves and game downloads?

I've yet to hear of anyone using up all the internal memory, so yes. If you plan to DL every VC game available that might change, but for now the internal memory seems more than adequate for general use.

Another thing, how do you check your wi-fi signal strength on the Wii? I wanna see how good a connection I am getting as it seemed a bit slow on the initial system update download.

Nono, that's quite normal.

Mine timed out 4 times trying to download it. Set your channel to 11; it gets better that way.

Adding you now. As far as Channel goes - your router can broadcast on channels 2-11 if I'm not mistaken. Most default to 6, just like everything else that frequency (phones, etc.). Switching to 11 seems to clear up most of the interference issues people are having with their Wiis. Mine included.

A list of Miis I've got set to Mingle:

Ackbar - "It's a trap!"
Amy M. - aka Frog's Honey
Chuck - Charlie Brown
Kirkland - aka FireballKM
Lucy - Charlie Brown
Mitch - aka whiteboyskim
Nate - aka CrayolaSmoker
Niki - aka CrayolaSmoker's wife
Phillip - South Park
Popeye - Spinach!
Terrance - South Park
V - as in "for Vendetta"
Vito C. - he made me an offer...
Zissou - his life is aquatic

I've also got a Borat and a DeNiro I'm not quite happy enough to set to Mingle yet.

"The Dude" and Walter, along with Shaun (of the Dead) are on my "to do" list at some point as well.

Ok, well, I finally have something to play besides Wii Sports. Within the last 3 days, I have purchased, Need for Speed Carbon, The new Zelda, and Excitetruck. So far, I haven't messed with them very much, but I think I have 3 winners here. I appreciate the suggestions and have posted my Wii code in the appropriate forum. PLEASE add me and send me your codes so we can play together.

Thanks again and some feedback on the 3 games I bought would be appreciated. thumbsup

I'd like some impressions of NFS when you can.  I'm gonna grab Excite Truck sometime soon because i've heard great things about it.  I had Zelda and just couldn't get into it myself.  I've never played any of the Zelda games so i guess i just didn't have the history there as most do.

I'll throw out there Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam to check out too.  That has surprisingly been my favorite game thus far.  Great controls with the Wii and just a fun game.  The visuals are very nice and overall the easiest to control TH game yet.

And let us know about your impressions thus far.  What a super system the Wii is.

As far as the system goes, the system itself is fine, but Nintendo's online service, if you can call it that, is ass. I hate this "code" thing, is it too much to ask for people to just have a "gamertag" sort of thing? Plus, the Nintendo services, updating, connecting to their channels, all seems very slow. My initial update, last Sunday, took 30 minutes to download. Now, keep in mind, every PC or game console I have, is connected wirelessly, and everything works PERFECTLY.......except the Wii, which seems fairly slow.

Random thoughts.......

I'm fine with its performance at 480p, the games look about like regular XBOX games did, and thats fine.........I'm tired of not being able to find a second Wii remote, that is inexcusable and Nintendo needs to get their asses in gear.............The menu system seems unnecessarily disjointed and complex, sort of the antithesis of what the Wii was supposed to be about I thought........... I would like to have a percentage or something showing just how much internal memory I have left...........Needs A LOT more games, the selection is a bit thin at the moment.........The sensor/remote performance is outstanding!!!!!!!!!!I have found it a lot easier to control than I expected it to be, bravo to Nintendo........Please, less "kiddie" titles. Enough Sponge Bob, Open Season, etc, lets get the good stuff going.

If I had to rate the systems I own, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being best, the Wii gets a 7 at this point, as does the DS, the 360 is a 9 on my "scale". Any questions?
