Square Enix may be preparing a third entry in the Final Fantasy XIII saga if recent domain name filings are to be believed. As Joystiq pointed out Square registered the domain through finalfantasyxiii-3.com through the Corporation Services Company of Japan.

I think it's more likely that this is just the new name for Final Fantasy Versus XIII.  They changed the PSP game from Final Fantasy Agito XIII to Final Fantasy Type-0, so it wouldn't be surprising if they did the same for Versus XIII.

The most startling change to Lightning Returns comes in the form of the doomsday countdown. According to Square-Enix, the world will end after 13 days, and a massive clock will count down constantly in the corner of the screen to indicate this looming deadline. Any action players take, even taking the monorail from place to place, will spend time and hasten the end of days...The battle system itself, a greatly modified version of the previous two, will feature real-time elements including direct control of Lightning's movement and her attacks, as well as time-based moves that drain the doomsday counter. Lightning Returns will also include a real-time block system, designed to make battles much more active and time-based. Even dying mid-battle will activate a prompt to give players the choice to rewind their mistakes at the expense of the timer.

Although saying that,whoever can't finish the game in 13 days(13 x 24hrs=312hrs)deserve to get caught by the clock,however it depends on travelling how much time is taken off if its instant place to place on the monorail and whatever else they have...it's still basically crap and pointless though


Rather they did it like Batman Arkahm City when you had Dr Strange at certain parts of the story announcing "2hrs to Protocol 10" etc

Remember, the world of Novus Partus is set to end in 13 days. There will be increases and decreases in time. Novus Partus is composed of four islands, two with natural terrain and one has the city of Luxerion on it.

The game is meant to be played and beaten a multitude of times – the volume is not such that it will take many tens of hours to clear once. You’ll have the ability to carry items over through multiple playthroughs.

You can freely move around during battle. Some elements of the battle system are timing-based. The battle system is very similar to an action RPG, but contains an ATB bar. There are no menu commands this time – commands are mapped to specific face buttons which can be pressed in succession.

I really hope they sort their shit out for FF15,this type of Final Fantasy is dead to me,i thought i was watching a trailer for Devil May Cry then

They should go back to cute big headed graphics,graphics can still look good that way it's not like its has to look mega fantastic just because its on current gen tech,they can still have a great story as well,I would even go back to turned based than the kind of action game we have had in the past FFs


nothing sets this apart from the other fast action games like a FF game used to do for the RPGs
