"Four thousand years passed before the Second Core was discovered on a desert planet. Pain and bloodshed flowed in its wake. But the exiles returned to their Homeworld, Hiigara.

This is the story of the end time. We know this, because the Third Core has been found.  For under the dark influence of this core, the Taiidan have risen under a new leader, the Vaygr Warlord named Makaan. He calls himself the Sajuuk-khar, or Chosen One."

Bad Camera. The evilest of the evil. smile

I'm tempted to vote for Shodan, as I'm certain she'll get a ton o' votes. And she certainly is a cool villian. But...

Kain. The original C&C Kain. Kain was cool, Kain was ruthless. Kain 'no, I am badder than this space based ion cannon beam' Kain..... Kain -was- da man!

I completely forgot about Shodan.  She gets my vote.  Damn, that game was awesome.  Lets hope the "spiritual successor" does it justice, although it looks like it may have fallen off the edge of the world since Late May.

SHODAN was a good villain, but I think Irenicus is my favorite.

I'm with you on that one.

I'll never forget the cinematic where the guy starts on your briefing and Kane just shoots the guy in the back and takes over.

Awesome.

Shodan's good but I'm going with the G-Man from Half-Life 1 & 2.

The dungeon keeper because you were the bad guy. But if that is not valid I go with Horny.  I loved making him a private dungeon so he wouldn't kill all the other bad guys.

At a close second would be the grunts from halflife. There are still new games coming out which aren't half as smart as those grunts.

Big spoiler for Planescape:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Your own mortality.

Seriously, best villian ever.

SHODAN is a given, however, Tycho from the Marathon series was just as vicious an AI.

Shit I forgot about the Gman.  He was awesome too.  Never know if he is really for you, or against you.  How can you not love a character that plays homage to every conspiracy theory lol.

Even though Torment is my favorite game... Actually it did have a lot of memorable villains- the Deva, Ravel... even the one that's already been mentioned. But I have to go with Nicole Horne from Max Payne. Somehow I really hated the bitch after everything she did in this game.

I may think of a better choice later, though.

I second that, "The Bad Guy" from PS:T wins hands-down.

As much as I love all things PST, I can't agree. Spoilers:

Quote
The Transcendent One is something of a non-entity until the very end of the game where you learn what he is. It's a great idea, but I consider him a tool to further develop a great character more than I consider him a great character in his own right.

I immediately thought SHODAN when I saw the thread title.  Nice to see I'm not alone

I'm gonna have to say SHODAN. The whole thing around that crazy AI was just...freaky.

Although, for you Baldur's Gate fans, I have a close second. It's the "You must gather your party before venturing forth" voice. biggrin
