In case anyone was wondering what sort of performance they could expect for this one, check out these CPU and GPU benchmarks.  It looks like this should be much more playable on an average system than Crysis was.  Nice!

(please keep the DRM crap to the other thread)

Found this blurb on Steam this morning:

Quote
PC Gamer has given Far Cry 2 an "Editor's Choice" rating in their upcoming holiday issue. Their reviewer says "Far Cry 2 hasnít just exceeded my expectations, itís blown them away."

I'm trying to decide between FC2 and F3. I had pretty much decided on F3 first but I keep hearing such great things about FC2. The lack of rpg elements is not a deal breaker. I just think F3 will be longer so FC2 will be cheaper by the time I am done with F3, but now all I can think of is how cool FC2 looks and it's here a week earlier.

Plus, if you play Far Cry 2 first that gives people time to mod Fallout 3 into the game you actually want it to be.  slywink

Have any sources mentioned how well the game is going to run on non-SLI/Crossfire equipped PCs?

Did you look at the benchmarks I linked to a couple posts up?  That was kind of the whole point of that post.

Man, shit.

I impulse bought this on steam tonight... it had a nice fast server feeding it to me at 800k/sec.  I went and played a bit of dead space, came back and it said it was 100% ready to play... awesome!  So I fire it up... and it says 'oh, updating'.  It's now updating at 76k/sec and says it will take 4.5 hours.  What the shit?  So really, it didn't download... now it's downloading... that fast server for buying stuff had ... god knows what on it, while the slow as shit update server had most of the content?

Annoyed.

Bought it in a store today.  Runs great, looks great, fun game so far.

Still haven't seen the "sexual themes" promised by the ESRB rating.   icon_lol

I should've waited and bought it in the store today, but I thought I'd get to play last night.  *sigh*

Sorry, man, no idea what kind of update your Steam was downloading. I also got it yesterday, downloaded it off the fast server (@800 KB/s), no update, played it within a couple of hours.

You gotta hate the technology sometimes, especially when something that is supposed to save you some time, gives you troubles and makes your life more difficult instead. frown
