dang, forgot how annoying the kill cam could be. the geckos in the beginning usually were on top of me after killing one of them and watching the killcam (it even got stuck on one for about 15 seconds, thought my game has bugged), so off it goes. I really wish they let you specialize in one more skill....
Which skill? You can already "tag" 4 of them. Also, finally went back to playing. Currently about 3/4 of the way through and trying to decide my final route before it's too late to change.

Which skill? You can already "tag" 4 of them. at the beginning (with the doc as you create your character) you can only tag 3 skills (as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8weWn2NiVAg&feature=channel at a little after 5:20) maybe you can tag a fourth later on via a perk but I'd love to have that available right away.

I'm actually more excited about Honest Hearts then I am about The Witcher 2 at this point. Plan on playing it first. I just finished going through the excellent New Vegas Bounties mods (practically a DLC themselves, including a lot of voice acting and a new companion) so I'm fully in Fallout mode.

today's your chance. I won't be getting to it right away, so I'm going to hold off in case it goes on sale.

looks like the Honest Hearts DLC has some issues. what's even worse is if one of the bugs is affecting your save game they won't be able to fix it, and you'll have to revert to an ealier save: The issue appears to be connected to the bug laden "ED-E, My Love" side quest, according to a comment left by a Bethesda representative on the company's blog post announcing the DLC's release on Xbox Live and Steam this week.
While Bethesda says it's working on a fix, there is a catch: "If you already have a save game where the bug is occurring, the fix will not apply and you'll need to revert to an earlier save prior to ED-E leaving in order to play through Honest Hearts." We've contacted the company to find out if this issue affects all platforms and for an ETA on the patch.

I've found it to be bug free, so that appears to be a very specific issue.

did some more digging, and the buggy quest mentioned is actually from the original game. nothing like a little bug that breaks the DLC to get them to finally fix it

I finished the DLC today. No bugs by the way. The main story is pretty solid, but nothing outstanding. The strength of this particular add-on is an absolutely stellar side story and the ability to free roam through a fairly good sized area and explore. It scales to your level, so is challenging no matter what (though that can push the limits of reasonable if you are at a high level.) Definately worth $10 to me. I got about six hours out of it.

I finished the DLC today. No bugs by the way. not even any giant radioactive ones? Very few, actually. HH adjusts for different difficulty and character levels, and that includes some variation in enemies as a result. Because the character I took in was at a very high level (over level 30), I saw very few Cazadores. Others say they were plentiful in their playthroughs.

Anyone recommend their favorite mods A must have mod. It changes the dialog window/text size so that it shows more than 3 dialog options before you have to scroll.

lead designer Joshua Eric Sawyer just released a new mod he made in his free time. it's supposed to make the game more challenging.

ouch. Fallout: New Vegas needed an 85 on Metacritic for Obsidian to receive royalties or bonuses beyond the straight payment for the game. it only hit 84.

I'm surprised they would agree to a royalty agreement based off Metacritic ratings and not something more concrete like sales.

just read about a series of mods that restores stuff cut from the game (mainly due to technical limitations or not being important to the story). they can be downloaded here.

Project Brazil: This is a near Total Conversion for Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout: Project Brazil adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18, embarking on a quest to a hidden complex in the ruins of Los Angeles. Along the way you'll discover a pitched battle between the Survivalist Army, the New California Republic, and The Super Mutants, which shapes the politics and events leading to the NCR's invasion of the Mojave. The story takes place in 2260 - many years before the "Courier" awakes in New Vegas, while the Enclave struggles to rise again on the West Coast.
The Mod branches off from New Vegas right from the New Game menu. The game will be released in chapters, with the first release containing 3 parts. The full campaign will contain 16 Main Quests and several side stories, all related to the player's journey through Vault 18 and the wasteland of San Bernardino. Their choices at each stage will shape the next, creating 2 plathroughs worth of unique content.
The mod's first installment should be released in January.
Fallout: Project Brazil requires no DLC or additional downloads. Just Fallout:NV, right out of the box.
