Oh so very in. I looked around here today to see if anyone had broken the street date. I tried Circuit City, Best Buy and Target all to no avail. I shall will purchase it on Steam tomorrow if I don't hear of any local sightings tomorrow during the day.

I eagerly await the GT community to dispel my suspicions that the game is a Fallout 3 Oblivion mod, if I'm told otherwise I will heartily jump in.

Why wait to let us tell you what you already know - you know you want to buy the game.

Last I read, the answer was no. But Oblivion didn't release with it on the DVD either. But unlike Oblivion, the editor wasn't available for release about a week before the game's launch.

I have an epic backlog as well, but I will probably splurge and pick this up. I can't remember when I last bought a $50 game. Usually get them on sale or something.
Would Wal-mart be carrying any of Collector's Editions at the stores?

I'm going to break a sacred tradition of NOT buying Day One; usually $40 or $50 buys me three or four games from six months earlier but hell, even if FALLOUT 3 isn't all we'd hoped for - and, really, what game could satisfy all you whiny beeyatches? - I've seen enough to know I'll get my money's worth.
Oh, yeah, dudes, try Dead Space too!

Good playthrough diary by one of our more creative team members. It's a good overview of some different character types you can make. Some minor spoilers about what groups you can join. No big secrets or anything like that: http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/vault/diaries_diary7-10.27.08.html

I was going to wait on Far Cry 2 until later next month after I'd had a chance with FO3... oops. My new goal is to finish Dead Space tonight before FO3 arrives tomorrow. I think I can pull that one off... I'm at the end of chapter 10.

OK, so I installed and escaped the vault. so far this is the buggiest game this year- it needed at least another 6 months of polish just kidding well, there are alot of bugs, but they're the kind you kill ingame and not the sort that makes you nail a dead cat to Kathodes door. graphically the game is very nice; I think I have everything maxed out and it seems pretty smooth so far. the weird face shadows from Oblivion are gone which is nice. I haven't had much playtime yet but so far it's pretty promising. it does suck you have to wait until level 6 to unlock Bloody Mess though...

Awesome review, Ron, I'm pumped! Regarding Steam: It unlocks in 4 hours (2pm EDT), does anyone know if you merely need to leave Steam running or does someone have to do something like "right click: begin download"? I just want this bad boy downloaded by the time I get home from work at 8pm.

How does lockpicking work in the PC version? I just skimmed the 360 review here and I had forgotten about Oblivion's lockpicking. I have truly lousy physical dexterity. I suck at shooters, etc. One of my pet peeves is adding "twitch" factors into a RPG. I know I am in a minority here, but that's what the stats are for! Of course, that is why I usually dislike action-rpg/action-adventure games. The thought of (the 360 version) of using 2 thumbpads to pick a lock means that I will never finish the game. I hate the concept.

In the tutorial you run across a lock, and there's a splash screen that explains it, but it appears you use the mouse to move one pick and the keyboard to move the other. unfortunately I clicked past it by accident and ended up using 3 bobby pins before it unlocked, but I'm not sure exactly what I did. there's also a chance you can force a lock.

stopped home after lunch and installed and started the game... got to where I enter my name, the Windows Experience thing came up and after figuring out that that mouse was actually about 30 pixels above where it appeared on the screen got logged into my Live account... and promptly booted back to the main menu... second time I got through character creation up to the toddler stage where you pick your stats and then had a firewall message take me out of the game and after I unblocked the game I got a blue screen trying to alt-tab back to the game... I'm pretty sure that's the first blue screen I've had since going to Vista. Had to get back to work at that point.

Ok this is the second time Ive tried to post this. First time it said all my pics were too large and I accidentally hit close instead of post after redoing it SIGH I picked both the game and book up at Gamestop today. Sucker was HEAVY. Surprisingly I also had paid too much and got some money back..win! Ok this first part is the book. Its the hardback CE version. This sucker is BIG. Bigger than I thought it would be. The front and back both have water stains on them. when I first looked at the book I was all ohhh crap! until I saw it was made that way. It came with a HUGE map of the wasteland inside which I didn't take pics of because it was so big. Also it had a coversheet on the back with some info and pics which I didn't include here either. The pages are NOT glossy but then again at nearly 500 pages who could afford that? They are made of a very nice thick newspaper type paper though. I think it will stand up well. Also Im sorry for the pic quality..I suck as a photographer. BTW the back is great aint it? Dead little FO boy. or maybe he is just drunk Front Back Ok the game. Of course you know it comes in a metal lunchbox. Its actually smaller than I thought it would be. Its not the size of a kids lunchbox..or Ive forgotten their size. The DVD case fits snugly into it so you can judge the size from that alone. The outside is covered in Fallout graphics. Its a VERY nice box. Inside you will find the game in a DVD case, a behind the scenes DVD in a movie real type sleeve and the same screenprinting on the dvd, a hard cover instruction manual, and a Fallout Boy (not the band) bobble head. I have not opened the dvd case to the game yet. The making of dvd looks pretty cool too. The hard back manual caught me by surprise. Damn thats a fine ass manual there . Also the bobble head looks and works really well I love that thing. The wife liked it so much she threatened to take it away from me . But the manual is a real treat by itself. Everything...box...book...game..all come in plastic shrink wrap. Nothing was damaged. Again I apologise for the crappy pic quality These first 2 pics are of the sturdy plastic outter cover that came on the metal lunchbox. Its clear with print on it so hard to get a good pic anyways. Front Back Box front Box back Inside goodies Close-up of the little guy
