So... EA ditched the whole Fight Night dealio and is now giving us... Fight Night meets TeamFortress 2 ?? Doesn't really matter to me; if it's fun, I'll play it! I've always liked the cartoonish graphic style anyway. Gametrailersand ve3troand Homepage

I really miss the Punch Out games. This gives reminds me of them a bit, hopefully the gameplay will be similar.

Ready 2 Rumble, anyone? I had to laugh to myself reading the preview for this one how they were saying that they were trying to be so original and avoid cliches while touting characters like a slimy latin lothario and a burly, bald military guy. Oooh, brilliant! No wonder they can only come up with 12 of them.

Well yeah, Ready to Rumble and....whatever that other cartoon boxer was called had a similar look, but I'm meaning more gameplay-wise. Like how in Punch-Out you had to find your opponents weakness, weather it was a wink, a flash to warn you right before a super punch and stuff like that. I loved figuring those out.
Not saying this is definitely like that....the trailer doesn't show any gameplay, I'm just hoping.

I loved Ready to Rumble on DC. If game play is there, I'm in.

As much as I want this, I hope this is not replacing the brillant Fight Night series, rather a compliment to.

The Fight Night series is dead. Another brilliant decision by Electronic Arts. They never cease to impress, huh?

+ King Hippo. I'd much rather have a goofy boxing game than a 'real one'. If it recreates the fun of punchout, i'm there day one.

Yeah, it's a brilliant decision to can one of their best sports series and recreate it to be all "fresh" when they run other mediocre ones into the ground year after year.

So despite this ranking in the lowest tiers of ratings, I rented Facebreaker last night because after two solid weeks of travel I wanted a goofy distraction. I simply love everything about the game- the setup, characters, fighting, delivery, controls, etc- with one exception: Impossible AI. Even on the easiest level, fights are ridiculously hard- if not impossible. Too bad. This could have been a fun franchise. I read a bunch of reviews and they all cite the impossible AI as teh biggest problem...and for once everyone got it right. So the game got played for about two hours and will be going back to the BB largely unplayed. Too bad.

Interesting that you bring this back up, as when I started the thread, Fight Night was being called a "dead" franchise.
But Fight Night 4 is apparently due out in 2009. Funny how things change.
