Well, seeing how Sierra was clearly in trouble after Blizzardvision merger, Monolith and Warner bought back the FEAR name from Sierra, allowing their full fledged sequel to be named properly.

But wow, you have an acronym and a colon subtitle.

I can't say that I ever really liked the name F.E.A.R., but it certainly isn't any worse than the generic Project Origin.  Now we get the "best" of both worlds.  slywink

It feels that something called Project Origin should be the revival of an old Origin game, not a sequel to a first person cubicle shooter.

I don't know whether to care about this or not.  For a while I was really enjoying FEAR because of the supernatural elements and superb battles.  However, I eventually got bored before I finished it because the level design was some of the worst I've ever seen.

From what I've seen they are really trying to mix up the level design and gameplay in this one so you don't feel so much like a cubicle prowler.

odd how the whole thing has turned around again.  wasn't sierra also working on a fear 2 with the expansion developer?  that could muck things up a bit.

it's all for the best though if name recognition helps monolith sell this game and stay around to make more games.

.....and there's a demo out for the game

I grabbed mine off steam, but I'm sure other usual places are hosting it.

The graphics are definitely a lot better than the original, the freaky moments are in full force and there are some cool set pieces

BUT....I think the game quick saves pretty frequently, resulting in a 2 second pause in the game which gets annoying.  There's also a bit of slowdown when it loads new data.  The flashlight isn't bright enough, and some areas are just WAY too dark to navigate at the default brightness.

The demo is fricken sweet.  The level of detail is through the roof good.  And it's freaky as shit.

+ a million.  there was a part towards the end when I had to check my shorts, and games like this usually don't get to me.

Played the demo.

Pros;
It freaked me out. the first one did not.
It looks great and plays great on my system

Cons:
It does not reconize certain keys so I cannot remap to the way i want/like. BIG negative there
Its too short.

Maybe I’m remembering wrong but didn’t the original have lean left/right options?  As I was playing not being able to was the thing that bugged me the most.
Pretty impressive overall though.

I think it did have lean, I recall some playing the game more like a tactical shooter with lots of leaning around corners.  I think they're trying to focus the game on slow motion and run and gun action this time.  Keep in mind that unlike the previous game, there'll be enemies that you have to use your slow motion against.

One thing though... it seems the replica troops aren't quite as good this time around.  They seem weaker than before, but that may be because its earlier in the game.

Pretty cool.  Nothing special.  Not full price by any stretch but will be fun to run through it someday to see how the story progresses with Alma.  I will be totally let down if this time we don't get to actuall fight the little biatch.

wow, I didn't even notice there was no lean- mostly because I didn't encounter any situations where I might have used it.  it should be standard for any FPS nowadays.
