the June issue of GameInformer features a 10-page article on the upcoming Ubisoft game Assassin's Creed.

i, for one, am VERY excited about it.  in fact, it's the first time i've managed to get excited about the PS3 (since, unfortunately, AC is going to be a PS3-only release).

basically, Assassin's Creed will be taking the Prince of Persia engine to the next level, from a technical standpoint.  the main character, Altaiir, has over 4K animations, compared to the 800 animations in PoP.  story-wise, it's supposed to be a combination of fact and fantasy--based on the original muslim cult from the late 12th century.  obviously, the only thing history would have on a secret cult like the assassins would be the reports of people outside the cult, so there's a lot left over for the game developers to think up and fudge, but it sounds like it'll be very historically faithful other than that.

and, of course, i'm all for another stealth-based adventure. <3

what do you guys and gals think?

I really liked the trailer, but that's all I've seen.

Well, take a look at the shape of it and tell me if it reminds you of anything.  You might perhaps look in your lap for reference.

Last time I checked my heart was located in my chest, not in my scrotum.

I'm pretty sure that within 10 months of release all those "PS3 exclusives" like Assassin's Creed and Mercenaries 2 will be available on the 360. There's too much money at stake this generation to not capitalize on it.

I'm interested in the game, but I'm not interested in spending $600 in order to play it in the first place.

I'm definitely interested in this one too.  I'm currently enjoying PoP: TTT.  But I'll have to wait for the hopeful 360 port.  But I'm sure you'll let us know how it turns out. smile

I wonder if they'll include some kind of multiplayer, similar to Splinter Cell's Spies vs. Mercs mode.

I'm pretty sure Assassin's Creed is a timed exclusive.  Not sure how much time, but there were a bunch of news articles about it during its showing at E3.

Ubisoft doesn't know the meaning of the phrase "console exclusive".  They are the kings of the multiplatform release.  At worst, it'll be a timed exclusive, with extra content added for the later systems.
