This just popped up on my radar today. From the video on youtube it looks like a cross between Medieval Total War, Celtic Kings and...I don't know-some kind of fantasy game! It wins the title of "most awesomest game that I've never even heard of before". Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKqVSNNBpfM&feature=related

And yes I think the game looked stunning last time I viewed info on it.
watched the video. looks better than Rome I think. I love the setting even more than Rome.

Seems a little pricey for a practically unknown company East of the Atlantic that's using a derivitive setting, but on the other hand I agree with you guys - this game actually looks quite compelling.

Well their previous Crusades game got good enough reviews. Not everyone knows this but Hungarian game developers have been around since the C64/Spectrum days so experience is not lacking. Despite Hungarian Notation . According to the user review at gamefaqs the production values could be better but they hadly have the resources of CA anyway. At least it seems they nailed the AI . I fo http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=955129&topic=52369873Seems Gamestar likes it too and that could be good news considering hor harsh they usually are with reviews. I expect a demo some time in the near future.

Since when is a $35 computer game pricey? Last I checked the standard price for PC games was $49.99. If the game can live up to its potential (a very big unknown right now) that could be one heck of a deal.

There's a few impressions over at Qt3 now, and one thing to bear in mind, is that while Morale does exist like in Total War, there is no fleeing. Low morale saps stamina appearently, but they dont flee.

I don't like the sound of that, on the other hand how many other games do have fleeing? I would buy this if I had a computer that could run it-unfortunately I don't although I hope to be getting one in a few weeks. I'm hoping you guys will come up with some impressions.

That is the best part. I hated chasing fleeing troops in MTW/RTW and ETW.

+1. While realistic, I never really liked fleeing mechanic, especially if the enemy can stop fleeing and come back, which is just dragging the battle out, because it's not like that half dead unit is going to win it for the AI. And if you don't chase them, the AI will keep them for the next battle, which is usually pretty unwinnable for the AI but you still need to cleanup. Anyway, I am VERY interested in the game. The only thing I am worried about is if it's going to turn out to bea ghetto MTW with magic. Oh and bugs, a lot of CTD's seem to be reported on QT3.

Yes, sometimes compromises has to be done for playability. Several hardcore wargames made the same compromise so I have no problems with it.
It seems 64 bit OS:es are the unstable ones, why is this? Anyone know why some games get more unstable in a 64 bit environment?

This is what I posted on QT3. I played the game for about 5 hours and it just allowed me to start recruiting. The "tutorial" part is soooo long. The good news is that I didn't have any CTD's or other technical issues. The bad news is that the game kinda looks and feels like ghetto MTW2 - graphics, sound, controls, mechanics. Archers are way too overpowered, especially when affected by a certain spell that causes an archer unit to shoot 3 times as many arrows for 20 seconds - one archer unit under this spell can wipe out an enemy unit in a couple of volleys. This does make the battles faster, as you can't ignore archers, you need to deal with them ASAP. Also archers shoot every 6 seconds (way too fast) or so and have unlimited ammo. Unit size is 50-ish at most, so the battles don't feel that epic even if you have full stacks on both sides. Also when moderately zoomed out, you don't hear any battle sounds and it really detracts from the experience. I always liked listening to my cavalry charge. There seems to be a lot of variety in units, which is a good thing. I just encountered an enemy with Giants and Wargs, they are cool and add a lot to the game, forcing you to change tactics often and adapt. I couldn't find a way to make my cavalry charge through the enemy - it always slows down and gets into melee. I only have light cavalry atm, so maybe that's why. I didn't have a chance to do anything on the strategic map due to extra long tutorial. Generally, I am kind of intrigued by the game and will definitely play more but I don't really feel it so far. It seems 64 bit OS:es are the unstable ones, why is this? Anyone know why some games get more unstable in a 64 bit environment?
I have Win 7 64 bit and didn't have any CTD's or other technical issues in my 5 hour long session.

New patch out today: This line caught my eye: Damage by Whirlwind and Pool of Darkness paused during "Pause"
No one would ever exploit something like that.

I had stumbled onto this on Steam. Most reviews made it sound too intimidating for the 2009 me. I think the 1994-1996 heavy-into-wargames me might have appreciated it. Too bad there's no playable demo.

played a bit of the demo. it didn't feel like anything special but some of the spells shown in the opening movie looked like they may be pretty cool. I'll wait until there's a really good sale on this to grab it.

If you have the base game, the three DLCs pre-Druids are on sale together cheap as well. There's a Bargain Bin thread.
