Picked this up with the Steam sale.

Man this game can suck away some time! I did pretty well. No major mishaps and I managed to complete two parking jobs. Only real scare I had was jackknifing in the rain because I wasn't paying attention - luckily the road was wide and I managed just to tap a guardrail with no damage. Still don't have enough to buy my own truck, but I'm having fun cranking up the Classic Country and enjoying the scenery.

Oddly enough I hate driving in real life.

TSM 3.5 is out now.  supports 1.41 and you don't have to restart to add it.

For those who might still be considering getting ETS2, it's on sale again, 66% off on Steam as part of their Greenlight Anniversary Sale.

I picked it up and played the tutorial. It is strangely compelling, and it demonstrates how poorly of a truck driver I am, so far.

new paid DLC is out now:

Quote
Going East! add-on expands the original Euro Truck Simulator 2 map with new destinations for cargo delivery across Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.

Over 20 hours of driving to explore all the new areas in the game world
13 new cities including Warsaw, Krakow, Ostrava, Budapest, Kosice and more
Many kilometers of challenging narrow roads, mountain passes, and roads under repair to test your driving skill

although I imagine this stuff is already probably available via mods....

ETS2 has received patch version 1.6 and includes the ALPHA launch of worldoftrucks

Quote
We are happy to announce that World of Trucks web is available for public!

In order to activate the communication between Euro Truck Simulator 2 and World of Trucks your game must be updated to the latest version 1.6.

The most notable 1.6 game features and improvements are:

Photo Studio - includes Photo-mode and Screenshot Manager allowing upload of your best screenshots to World of Trucks
Online profiles - ability to connect your profile to your World of Trucks account
New Iveco Stralis Hi-Way sounds recorded from actual truck
    Individual air-horn sounds
    Realistic fuel consumption option
    Adaptive automatic transmission option
    Shorter jobs generation probability increased
    License plate changes fixed

To make is easier on our download servers and your nerves, initially we will start by offering just the torrent links before we get download mirrors up and running.

If you are a Steam user, it is much simpler, the game in Windows as well as Linux incarnation will be updated automatically - the new version is immediately available in Steam library.

We hope that you enjoy this alpha and that it will whet your appetite for upcoming updates in the World of Trucks universe!

ninja If you're interested .. here's Squirrel's YouTube overview of 1.6 .... with mention of 1.7 before Oct-31 (Volvo Pumpkin, anybody?) .. and the new Traffic AI in 1.8

I used to have this on my wall in the 70's

For those who might want more information on what ETS2 is about, there's a great video called "Trucking Handbook" on YouTube that shows a lot of the features. It also has a great narrator as well   nod

Well, turns out I'm a dummy, I wasn't getting the latest 1.6.1 update because the properties for ETS2 in Steam were set at opting into the 1.4.1 beta  Roll Eyes . As soon as I opted out of all betas the 1.6.1 update was downloaded and installed.

And good news, the mods I had been using previous still work in 1.6.1! Here they are, the checked one of course:

And here's my truck:

And on my way from Berlin to somewhere in Denmark, I see a few interesting road signs:

To me it stands for World of Turd until I can actually drive in a universe with my friends.

They need to drop in Mad Max vehicles. Add the ability to add barbed wire, Molotov cocktail throwers, and a steel plow to your truck. Then you got yourself a multiplayer game.

or have the trailers fortified with turrets and ramps, and let one player drive while the other players man the guns or try and board the enemy rig.  Kinda like Guns of Icarus.
