Just saw this on Steam's list of new games and went looking for more information on it. looks very nice, and turn based to boot. the combat phases are also turn based and have a nice cinematic representation if you want to watch. it has the makings of a great "one more turn" into the wee hours of the morning game. official site http://endless-space.amplitude-studios.com/

Was going to post this just now.
Have been watching someone play the game, looks very nice. Think I'll grab it soon... like very soon.
Alpha has started and you can play it if you pre-order at the reduced price.

So, how does this one compare to all the others so far?
It looks pretty, but so did MOO3 back then.
Seems like they're aiming for simultaneous turn based, which might mean a pitboss style server is possible.

Played it for a couple of hours now. It feels very good.
The combat has a lot of interacting systems to it with regards to the ranges and the weapons. You need (and will want) to adjust your research and ship designs to who you are fighting. Haven't gotten too far down the tech trees yet, but, the cruiser looks like a nice upgrade to the destroyers and corvettes.
There are a lot of techs in 4 categories, and you will want most if not all of them.
Still trying to figure out how to grow systems effectively.

How time consuming is the ship design process? I know that feature is a big plus to a lot of people, but for me it slows down the pacing too much and keeps me away from my universe conquering. I much preferred GalCiv 1 over 2 for that reason alone.
Other than that, I like everything else I see about this game!

You can put ships together pretty quickly. Not more than a couple of minutes I should think.

I finally burned out on GalCiv2 a year or so ago. Hope this one can scratch that itch. I like a good galactic empire builder if combat's not the main focus.

I've been playing this for about a month now. I haven't played since the major beta changes were released, but so far I've been thoroughly impressed. There are problems and there are holes, but it was an alpha. So complaining about balance (like overpowered missiles) dumb AI or diplomacy just doesn't seem fair that this stage. But the core game was already very solid - lots of options, good interface, strategy, etc. It has more personality than GalCiv 2 in many ways (no "Laser 2" techs) and seemed to strike the right balance between depth and playability.
I'm eager to give the beta a go in the next week or two. But at the alpha stage, I've been impressed. This feels like it might really be the successor to MOO more than any other 4x space game I've played in the last 15 years.
