Or as GT reported yesterday. biggrin

But yeah, I see this as nothing but a bad thing. I can't imagine why anybody would want to get involved in the Katamari ball that EA is.

Oh, and as far as "EA's commitment to the online market" goes:

Ultima Online - Still running after almost 7 years, with 5 expansions
Ultima Online 2 - CANCELLED
Motor City Online - Released and CANCELLED
Earth & Beyond - Released and CANCELLED
Privateer Online - CANCELLED
BattleTech 3025 - Hit beta and CANCELLED
The Sims Online - All but dead

Yeah, a true commitment to the online market, eh?

True, but all of those sucked and were worth cancelling. Had they any good properties worth keeping online I'm sure they would... probably cancel them too. smile

I dunno.  Ultima Online 2 looked really good.  Of course it would have probably have turned out to be more like Everquest 2.

I was a hardcore UO player at that time and UO2 was my most highly anticipated game upon hearing it was cancelled. I still haven't forgiven EA for that. They tried to make up for it by folding some of the UO2 content into UO but it stunk of them trying not to waste the resources that were already created (and not having the juice to think up more) rather than given something back to the UO2 fans.

You know...I apreciate that some of those games weren't that great, but I know at least one of them had a good run (2-4 years) as an MMO...eventually the subscriber numbers don't pan out.  I liked Earth and Beyond, and it was an okay MMO...just not an excellent one.

If there was any game to mourn, it would be BattleTech 3025..that was a kicking beta.  If anyone has some good info why Kesmai and EA dumped that one so close to release, I'd like to know.

Earth and Beyond may not have been an excellent MMO, but I still wanted to play it after it had been cancelled. I enjoyed it a lot and it was pretty lame of EA to just pull the plug on everyone playing it.

I do my very best not to buy further EA products and I know for certain I will NEVER buy an EA MMO game again.

Because EA is dumb?

I for one know that I would have snapped up BattleTech 3025 the day of launch. So much potentional in that game...
