Wii-Zapper...getting a Wii is starting to look appealing...19.99 for that price I'd grab the zapper just for shits and giggles. I imagine it'd work well with Red Steel also (which I have sitting in my backlog).

Reggie also said the Zapper would be included in some of their software. It'd probably make a great pack-in with something like the next Resident Evil game. -Autistic Angel

I liked the fact that the presenter asked Jackie to demonstrate the Metroid Prime 3 visor controls for the audience and she apparently just ignored him. The game looks great, though! The presenter mentioned that you can still hold down the 'Z' button to lock your view on a certain enemy or target, but still use your Wiimote to aim freely at anything you can see. He also said Samus can supercharge her suit to enhance her weaponry for a limited period of time, but doing so for too long will "corrupt" her. Not much illumination on what that means, though.... -Autistic Angel

Looks like the Wii Wheel will be packaged in with Mario Kart Wii. The Wiimote snaps right into the center of the wheel allowing you to rotate the whole thing left and right to steer your kart. -Autistic Angel

Fils-Aime is really not a very good speaker. Still, some of those games look pretty good. What's the Dragon Quest game they showed for the DS? That's a different one from the main DQ game that's coming out right?

I think the DS DQ game was titled Dragon Quest Swords. I don't know if that's separate from the main game you're thinking of, though. -Autistic Angel EDIT: Seems I was thinking of the Wii version -- see below.

Wii-Zapper...getting a Wii is starting to look appealing...19.99 I didn't catch the very beginning of the event, but they showed a picture of the zapper. To me, it just looked like a plastic frame that the wiimote and nunchuck snap into. Are there any moving parts on it?

Speaking as someone who has done Yourself! Fitness six days a week, every week for nearly one year now (first anniversary in about two weeks!) on the X-Box, I'm really excited about Wii Fit. I've always thought it would be great if Yourself! Fitness could offer feedback on your form to ensure that you're doing the exercises properly, and that looks to be exactly what Wii Fit does! -Autistic Angel

Wii Fit sounds like it will be great for lots of people who are not me. Unfortunately if that's their big game I have to agree with the 1up blogger who is less than impressed - More Wii Fit demonstrations. More than 40 activities in the game. Wii "Balance Board" is what makes this game tick. I think Jeremy puts it best. "I invented videogames. Here is an exercise mat." This is pretty much like watching washed-up stars on QVC. "That's a lovely cubic zerconium necklace, Shigeru!"

Similar to MS's conference, I thought much of the presentation was awful- very lifeless.
I do have to say as much as it's going to piss off people on forums like this one and others, Nintendo showed off a software lineup that will likely keep their momentum:
- Super Mario and SSMB in November/December. That's a huge one-two punch and with Halo and GTA hitting the two months prior that means that Nintendo will have the highest profile software launches in each month.
- Wii Fitness- killer app (assuming decent pricing). I don't think they announced a date but if it's this fall then I think they will pretty much own the holiday season. Barring some kind of excessive controversy, I think the Halo and GTA launches' media coverage will blow over quickly but Wii Fitness (like Wii Sports) will get continuous positive coverage from the media and really turn out to drive hardware sales.
- MySims could be huge if EA does it right.
- High School Musical- this show is a phenomenon with the teenage set and this is likely to be one of those titles like Hannah Montana that puts up huge numbers while hardcore gamers sit around and go "WTF is that? I've never even heard of it."
- Mario Kart Wii first quarter 2008- if they can get it out then it continues the tremendous momentum while also sending the signal that they don't have to hold mega-franchises strictly for fourth quarter release.
