I can't make this stuff up.May 9, 2007 - Hack and slash fans with a penchant for sci-fi should mark their calendars now as Namco Bandai and KOEI will ship their joint project, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, in North America near the end of the summer. Previously released as "Gundam Musou" in Japan a few months back, DW Gundam is from the same development crew that built earlier titles in the series (Omega Force) and will appear on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
"Dynasty Warriors: Gundam is the result of a monumental collaboration between two great companies," said Namco Bandai, EVP and Makoto Iwai. "This partnership extends far beyond the title's development and encompasses all disciplines including marketing, sales and promotions in order to bring this unique title to North America. Featuring interstellar environments and unmatched warrior battles, gamers will understand why Dynasty Warriors: Gundam is the must have game for the fall."
Unlike past Warriors installments that focused on ancient China or Japan, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam centers on the war-torn (Universal Century) universe of Mobile Suit Gundam as players take control of both the Earth Federation and Zeon forces. Unlockable mobile suits from different timelines, secret missions, and multiple game modes including "Official, Original" and "Versus" types are among the touted features.
Whether or not the North American version will contain region-specific exclusives or extras is still unknown. (whole article copied because I'm an ass ) So...thoughts? Is this just the Dynasty Warriors line spreading out to other genres? Or a desperate attempt at some really strange shock value or something? Or will it sell as well as (or better) than all the other Dynasty Warriors games as Gundam is huge in Japan?

Can't say I'm disappointed at this. I'm a DW fan (except for Samurai Warriors) and a Gundam fan (MORE MECHS!) so I'd wager this is a win/win if Koei, Omega-Force, and Namco-Bandai put some serious production values into it. Oh look, 360 title too?!?!
Ahem...

I don't know much about Dynasty Warriors, but Gundam had some great mechs...might look for this one.

agreed on all counts. while i'm not a huge gundam fan, i do like the dw series for what it is. unless this gets totally destroyed, i'll be picking this up. i really did not care for samurai warriors either. the solo missions were pointless and unnecessary

Just played the demo. Not really sure what I was doing, but seemed pretty neat.

I hope there are more mechs, and better ranged weapons in the real game. I suppose that the blades are usually the main weapons in the Gundams I've seen though (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Destiny). Still, I want some flashy weapons, and maybe maps based in the air. I want to use the Freedom in space .

I downloaded this thinking that maybe the robot setting would be the thing to make me think a Dynasty Warriors game isn't the most boring thing on Earth. I was wrong.

I'll have to grab the demo. I'm a Gundam fan but the source material doesn't seem to fit with the DW-style hordes so it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Btw, not sure anyone cared but the demo is now up on xboxlive. Well, I just saw it anyway. Voice acting was very hokey, but I liked what I saw. Not sure I will be getting it, but it's a definite rental

After playing the demo, I came away liking it more than I thought. However, I got tired of the button-mashing before the end of the demo level.
