Yeah.

Sorry I'm in a really foul mood. It's been a really long day and there's still 9 hours to go at work before I can get home and I was really looking forward to this since I'm boycotting batman so it just set me off that they released it early and didn't do a pre-load.

I'm getting it. It's available now fyi smile They released 12 hours early

I've about farking had it with steam. This is bullsh*t and they've been pulling this crap a lot lately. How in the hell are we the consumers supposed to plan anything? You know what happens if I show up 12 hours early to a meeting at work? I get farking fired.

This is one of the first times I've seen someone complain about an early release. Geez, game developers just can't get a break - release early or late and you encounter anger.

I realize people enjoy having a schedule, but the game will still be available 12 hours later, when you planned to play it originally - so what is the problem?

Now that I've got that out of the way... why boycott Batman? Is there something up with that release? I've completely ignored the Batman news, given that I only recently acquired a PC able to play them.

I was just in a bad mood and realizing after I got to work that I could have kicked off the download before I left if I had known they released it early just added to that.

We are boycotting batman: arkham city because they got greedy and decided to delay the PC version and refuse to give a real reason. Had they come up with a believable excuse other than "oh it's hard, /whine", it may have been fine. We're pretty certain that since the PC version is nearly half price ($36 vs $60) of the consoles, that greed is driving them. I always speak to companies with my wallet and hey, it worked on netflix.

It looks a LOT worse on 360.  It's not really the type of game that will suffer from that though.  I REALLY wish they would hurry up and get a xbox out that will run things at 1920x1080. ARG!

Um, I can run games in 1080p on my 360, as long as the game supports it.  Which a lot of the newer releases do (not sure about this game, though).

you are completely confused between running a game at 1080p, and running a game natively in 1080p.  I can't think of any games on the 360 that actually render at 1080p.  There are tons of games (pretty much all in the last few years) that will upscale to 1080p though.  Sadly in order to get the 1080p logo on the box they just need to upscale.  Something rendered at half that res and bumped up will look like crap compared to something rendered at 1080p, and that's what is happening.  Look at any game side to side on PC and you'll see the difference.  You might be surprised to find out that even the dashboard/guide isn't actually rendered at 1080p and will look slightly fuzzy on a large screen.  The dash I believe is 720p and then upscaled to 1080p.

some quick examples

COD:MW2 actually renders at 1024 x 600, try playing a computer game on your PC at that res, it isn't pretty.

Halo 3 was at 1152640

You're lucky to get so many games rendered at 720p

Here's a massive list of known resolutions for rendering on games.  The sad thing is that the xbox hardware just can't handle a game actually rendering at 1080p, let alone at 1080p with any sort of AA.

I wish when the interface was reduced - which I would recommend that the interface went to the corners rather than towards the center. Not a game changer but it does look silly

Put several hours in to this over the weekend. A lot of fun.

Playing the game solo is possible but this is really meant to be an online game. Pretty happy with the online quick match play for the most part. Been in groups where everyone was learning the ropes (fun), people kinda knew what they were doing (very fun), and groups where they wanted to micro-manage everything (not fun).

Been mainly playing the Huntress as I want the portal gun (at L25 I think). I find I'm not contributing too much after the first few waves. The dynamite does a ton of damage but the maintenance on it is high. The ranged attack also has way too long of a reload time to make any effective damage dealer when some of the beefier enemies show up. The Huntress seems to be mainly used for repair/upgrade work during most matches. However I did find that the Huntress is great to have around when things start going bad. When defenses fail I'm able to run around and start throwing down dynamite and gas traps to help take care of the overflow.

Did the first boss fight with others that hadn't seem to have done it before either. So it was fun discovering how to beat the boss as well as trying to maintain all defenses.

So having a ball with this one. Enjoying it much more than Orcs Must Die - although I like that one too.

Just put in two hours myself.  Did the tutorial and then straight online with a mage.  Took him to level 5 and am now going to try the other classes.  Good stuff.

Since the latest update, my 360 wired controller for pc has totally effed up.  Have been reading Trendys' pc forums for at least an hour and people are having all sorts of problems with the latest 7.01 patch...  disgust  I normally use mouse and keyboard, but went with gamepad on this one and loved the controls.  So, don't know if any of you are having any issues with the patch?  Just thought I'd throw that out there.

got this on a whim after seeing how many hours people have played in it and would like to hook up the controller to it.  am I missing something?  it picks it up in the initial configuration but doesn't work in game.  not seeing a selection for the choice of controller.

I like it more than I thought I ever would have!  I have put at least 40 hours into it.  Caine, I saw you on it yesterday and was about to ask ya if you wanted me to power level you?  If so, just lemme know?  Oh and yeah, the "press start" was rather obvious if you wanted to use a controller, lol!

I've been playing it with some friends on OO, so far it's been very fun. I play the Monk, but for the most part I don't attach, instead I use my auras to great effect and have all my stats put into it. I'm thinking of making a new character specced purely for direct combat since on some levels, you really need someone to wade into any breaches in the lines to give people time to fix it.

I haven't been kicked yet, but I play a Squire.  My brother said he got kicked when he played his Monk or Huntress.  He said ppl wanted either an Apprentice or a Squire.

The huntress I can see getting kicked if only because the first 20 levels of that class is terrible compared to the others, not sure what the developers were thinking with that. After getting 20+ levels or so their DPS on direct attacks goes through the roof if specced for that.

The Monk though, those auras are absolutely crucial if you play on hard or insane. Monk auras can be stacked right on top of each other, have effects no other class has like slow or drastically weaken enemies, and constantly effect everything inside the aura.

Yeah I get kicked every once in awhile as a Huntress. Its silly as you're able to contribute just fine. But I typically limit myself to putting down two dynamite stacks and spend the rest of my gems on repairing and upgrading other players defenses.

Also been coming across the phenomenon where players won't launch a match. They'll just sit in the tavern even when there are 4 people there. Very annoying.

I play a huntress frown
I don't get it, our traps are fairly good. a gas trap combined with a mage's tower will destroy. I also spend my mana upgrading everything I can. People are idiots if they don't want a huntress. I can hold a lane.

Also, you shouldn't pick up items. the mana gets split at the start of the round. I only grab upgrades.

I love my little Huntress!  My brother and I power leveled her from 1-70 in less than 2 hours.  She does massive amounts of dps and I haven't gotten a godly weapon yet!  I need to level an Apprentice and a Monk next.

Our trick for dealing with hard or insane levels is for my monk to primarily use Ensnare and Drain Strength auras on the key paths, while the Squires or Apprectices put down walls to block the path, then anyone else can place down attack turrets.

The drain strength aura decreases the attack strength of anything in it by 80%+ for me since I have a lot of points put into my aura strength. This means bosses like the Ogre, even on insane difficulty, can't even smash through the first line of defenses.

Ensnares also give a lot more time to the Huntress to dish out DPS.

Heh, or be like the Monk, which has a range attack for some reason, but does crap for damage and you constantly have to start clicking.

Actually, you don't want to pick up every item because when the combat round starts, all unpicked up items get automatically converted to mana and divided among the group.  So you are hurting other people by picking up items that aren't an upgrade.

I've found a lot of people aren't aware of that. Seems to be a steady supply of new people. I've stopped doing quick game and just pick a custom game. Kicking rarely happens now. Plus I've been trying to finish some challenges for gear. For the most part people are pretty chill.

My huntress at 36 now. I got a nice weapon that shoots 2 projectiles at once, just destroys.  Mana is flowing in doing glitterhelm too. can easily make over 200k doing a run. Plus i've gotten some good loot too.

Also, it's their own fault because I asked them why I shouldn't pick up items, and then got kicked without a response. I was more than willing not to, so long as they gave me the reason why.

But nope, just a kick. Again, bad etiquette.

And the developers are clearly pretty new at this as well. They should just make all items picked up get randomly distributed, or perhaps just mark anything that is good for other players. Items that are good for your character already show up as a green dot on the minimap, or a set of green arrows pointing in from the sides in the play area. So, they already have a system that tracks that.

Yeah, there are a lot of impatient jerks that kick players without saying anything.  That's why I play with my friends or solo.

I do agree that the loot system is really weak.  At least everyone is rewarded on boss levels when the boss is defeated.  You automatically get an item deposited into your item bank.  Also, once you start upgrading your items, items that are better than your item won't have the green dot or arrows because the game bases the upgrade on your current item level rather than the base stats.  So you could potentially miss out on an upgrade if you don't compare every items that drops.  On insane difficulty, you usually won't have time to stop and look at every item that dropped.

They fixed that supposedly two patches ago.

* Equipment rating calculation now factors in potential upgrade levels (i.e. lower-end equipment with sufficient upgrade levels is compared evenly with upgraded equipment)

New patch with CTF mode?

7.08
* Added 16-player PvP CTF Pre-Alpha Season Pass "Frostdale Village" DLC support.

* Fixed return-to-tavern crash / map-transition crash
* Fixed issue where Costumes would sometimes not be unlocked when completing Halloween Spooktacular!

* Fixed glitch where you could get "Unlocked New Mission / Costume" messages on every startup unless you did a local save

* Kobolds should no longer ever phase through blockades

* Raised cap on Monk weapon Ranged Damage stat per upgrade to 85

* Added Insta-Invest button to immediately dump in as much Mana as you can for the next Upgrade level

* Fixed bug where User Interface debug info could appear on-screen by pressing some obscure key combination

* Chain Lightning Tower now immediately retargets to new enemies after killing an enemy. Also its Attack Duration Ramp has been increased by 40%, now you get much longer-hitting lighting towers, and Lightning Tower AOE including max number of chains increased by 10%, and its Max Chain Length increased by 33%

* Uber-Chicken Pet's Damage now scales with Hero Damage and has a reasonable impact AoE, making it a fantastic boast-worthy reward for any Legendary Defender

* Fixed issue where DarkBot and Spanky pets weren't counting towards the "Gotta Catch Em All!" Achievement. If you already have those Pets, with this update you will simply need to drop those Pets from your Item Box or Hero, and pick them up or store them again, in order to have them count towards the Achievement.

* Fixed Ogres occasionally getting stuck in creep rooms on Glitterhelm

* Chicken Pet can no longer have poor number of upgrade levels

* Added simplified Monk Auras for low-quality graphics modes

* Enabled Guardians to boost multiple nearby Defenses! This is a new, upgradeable stat on all Guardians (only upgrades once every 10 levels so you need to be packing a high-level Guardian to get the most out of it). Increased Guardian boost-amount exponents by 100% so their Boost-stat value will have more of an effect as well. Enjoy it, it makes Guardians an incredibly powerful buff especially when used in team groupings!

* Auto-lock items picked up from tavern floors

* Reduced enemy ramp by over 60% for Survival Enemies (so a much quicker affair now), but now the Survival/Pure-Strat difficulty ramp vastly increased once you get past Wave 10. Moved Giraffe Pet earning to Wave 25 survival.

Downloaded the Demo and played through the first and only demo mission "Foundries and Forges" with the Mage. Interesting twist on the tower defense genre.

I tryed the same mission as the squire and the first 99% was easier than the Mage but I could not kill the Ogre and actually failed as the Squire. The blockades do little to no damage and the Ogres club attack keeps it outside the range of the bouncer traps. The best weapon I found was about 18 or 20 damage with an upgrade and the Ogre has 5,000 hp. Whats the strategy for defeating the Ogre as a Squire?

The other classes are not available in the demo so have not had a chance to try them yet.
