according to Twitter, April 1st was the day they would have announced DNF had gone gold.  not sure how true that is but yesterday was offifically the first April Fool's day with no chance of a 'DNF has gone gold!' joke being true.

Nope. 3DR probably doesn't have enough money to cover their legal fees. The boneheaded execs will shut everything down before dipping into their own pockets.

Take 2 has won this one, and to be honest I have no sympathy for what's left of 3DR.

i think every apriil fool's day is officially a day with no chance of a gold announcement and had been for some time.  sad, really sad.  3dr made 3000ad and john romero's claims look better in comparison.

I'll believe that DNF is being worked on once I can actually physically hold a boxed copy (or see its data in digital form via something like Steam). Not a minute before.

I don't think "Icarus" (which is what Irrational's supposed to unveil) and Duke Nukem quite match up, unless Duke sprouted wings to replace his jetpack.  icon_smile Seriously, it's apparently "new IP."

Even if Gearbox(I have liked most of their games) is doing the game is just don't care about DNF. yes Duke 3D was really fun in its day but that was like what 13 years ago now? Thats eons in game development time. Dunno I just think Duke is an overated IP in terms of its importance nowadays.

I feel like it's been so long that expectations for the game have gone from incredibly high to incredibly low, so it's the perfect time for them to finally release the game and surprise people.

Well, sort of.

The Wall Street Journal (great place for all video game news) posted 2010, but it's officially 2011, according to Shacknews.

damn, so many choices for a front page headline..... I'll go with a safe one.  I almost went with 'Hell Forecast to Freeze Over in 2011' but figured  a) it wouldn't fit and b) using Hell on the front page might be pushing it.

I'm surprised people are counting DNF out with Gearbox taking over... There aren't too many better FPS developers out there. Plus, Gearbox has co-developed a lot of games, so they are perfect in that regard.

Gearbox still I'd assume would have to keep the Duke theme which frankly IMO has long since lost is appeal. Duke 3D was in the equivalent of the Stone Age of FPS and a ton has changed. I just don't care about a shooter with a guy saying a bunch of juvenile one liners...boring.
