Actually, that would be kind of lame considering how much it backfired with Daikatana. I think it's something game publishers would try to avoid as much as possible.

I was thinking it would be funny, at least to the people who "get" the joke.

However, they likely wouldn't do it just because they would like to avoid comparing their "in development for an insanely long time" game to another "in development for an insanely long time" game which was a huge flop.  Nobody would willingly want their game compared to Daikatana, even in jest.

it continually amazes me that a company can remain in business so long after it's last game while other publishers who actually, you know, release a game now and then go out of business.
