I don't believe so, unless there is a choice in the game that lets you do it.

1Up preview: 'Dragon Age 2 Feels like a Blend of World of Warcraft, Dragon Age, and Kill Bill' I just finished the first one and reading your quote makes me ask "What the hell was broken in the first one?" However, i just read the articel and the lst paragraph made m e feel much better about it. 'Despite the fears of a "Dragon Effect 2," based on my 90-minute playtime, that's not a concern. Yes, it looks and feels almost like an action game, but that's more in tweaking animations and making your characters hustle rather than lollygag during combat. It's still a pause-and-play combat game, it still has a lot of places to go and people to talk to, and it still has a detailed skilltree (but now with branching choices rather than boring linear progression) that puts Mass Effect 2's tree to shame. Even the fact that you can actually dodge projectiles, or how boss battles now utilize timing and patterns, makes the combat already feel fresher rather than devolved.' I'm a bit more optimistic now.

This scares me just a bit. I just hope they aren't too twitchy. I hate that in boss battles as it frequently makes me have to repeat it over and over.

A derscription I've heard talked about in podcasts is it's not twitch dodging so much. There will be some patterns, and they will tend to telegraph their intentions ahead of time, similar to any other boss these days. For example: There's a boss that will move to the center of the room and you'll see him also draw in a low of energy and he'll start to glow. In the room you're fighting him, there are solid rock pillars around the edges, you just hide behind the pillars to avoid a devastating blast attack.

Here's a lengthy video (20 minutes of gameplay, 30 minutes of Q&A) showing off the PC version.

I really hope this doesn't feel like a console port on the PC. Two Worlds II did so much right in designing enjoyable gameplay, I have my concerns about this being an action rpg on rails (although a well done one) after reading the previews.

The weird thing is, it's got a good director behind it, and Felicia has improved her acting skills. But what does that really mean? It's still an advertising tie in.

SPOILER WARNING FOR LINK: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6046067/1#6046067Here's a forum post, containing stories written by the DA team on what's happening between DAO and 2 to the party members that are confirmed to be possible romances. I'll talk more about it below for people who don't mind knowing who they might be.

I'm just hoping they have great interplay between your party members again. I remember having to stop playing DA1 several times just so I could stop laughing at things they said.

There is still inter-party banter. It's one of the things they specifically said they didn't want to remove.
They're also going to have more instances similar to Awakenings where there's in-world objects to click on that will have a character chime in with some exposition, or banter.
I remember finding out that Wade's shop in Denerim had a spot that would always trigger party banter if you left and returned to the store. I eventually reloaded the game and used that spot to get all the bits of banter I missed the first few times I played.
I also found that I still had my DAO and Awakenings save files, they were just hidden away. So no need for a new play through for me. But, I am going through all the codex entries.

oh, I know it'll be back, I'm just hoping it will be as good. I was going through the wiki earlier and reading some of the quotes from conversations and have to say they set the bar pretty high.

Well, you'll be glad to know that the same writers from Origins are also on 2. And those same people are also the ones who help choose voice actors.

Let's just hope they've learned to write romance since the last time. The romance dialogue in Dragon Age Origins was just embarassing.

I'm less concerned about the PC version now and actually suspect there will be more unhappiness on the console side at the action elements added there. That demo the lead did last week (using the PC version) looked pretty solid. Other then the loss of the full isometric option and a few other tweaks, it looked a lot like DAO.

Some video from the demo. Looks even more action-y than I thought it would. Video 1Video 2Obviously spoiler-y for those who don't want to see the first several minutes of the game.
