I do find the DO:A battles easier and fighting against a mage less frustrating.

One major difference between the games is that in BG when a character died you had to determine whether the character was worth re-fighting the battle over (unless you had a reached a point where you could revive them). In DO:A you can revive them during battle if you have the ability and if they go down you can just finish the battle and bingo....they are back.

That has it's good and bad in my opinion. It removes a good deal of the re-playing of battles and yet it takes away some of the pressure of the fight.

Oh great, a marketing guy is now telling us how great the game is.  "When you press a button something awesome has to happen! Button = Awesome!"

 Roll Eyes

As for who Isabella is . . .

Spoiler for Hiden:
She's the ship captain in Denerim you can meet at the brothel who teaches you how to sword fight better.  And you can sleep with her or in a threesome with Leliana/Zevran depending on different things.

Here's a new (I think) video showing some combat in both real-time and pause-and-issue-orders modes.

There is a reason to re-play battles if you die - even in DA:O.  Unlocking all 4 survivor achievements - two of which are late in the game (Complete the Landsmeet and Complete the Main Story without the main character "dying").

I think it's more alarming that they're missing what was fun about the first game.

Looks more fun to me. All the tactics are still there.

They're not missing textures, instead, they've actually gotten rid of all the little incidental objects littered around the levels, things like the ever present cheese wheels, detritus, rubble, etc. Turns out, people really didn't care about it.

No, it turns out Bioware believes people really didn't care about it. I think they're very wrong, and I miss those things already. The cartoonified style for DA2 doesn't appeal at all, and is a major step down from what they had before.

if you look at the ground and some of the surrounding stuff though it does looks bland, but it occurred to me it might just be a winter level.  I am glad I'm not paying full price for it though, because I'm still on the fence about the changes.

I have to agree I thought it looked awful.  Sure the explosions looked great but overall it looked bland and lifeless with zero character.  The combat animation looked good i suppose but is all that jumping and flipping around by the thief really adding anything?  I mean will you even notice it after the 800th time when all the other stuff is gong on?  I found it almost distracting.  Maybe If I could zoom out some...

A combat move that involved round-house kicking a bottle of magic towards enemies isnt really my cup of tea. I'm sure if I wanted that kind of gameplay I could go get it from any kind of juvenile JRPG with kids running around in skimpy outfits, but in a Bioware RPG I expect something more.

I'm out until I hear some very positive news about this - the whole design approach and the designers attitude towards the game and genre is a major turn-off for me.

No the Signature Edition offer will not be available through Steam. The only digital source for the Signature Edition is the EA Store and already listed retailers. Physcial copies are available at all retailers.

Ok, Last time I got dragon age for the PC and Ps3.  I returned the PS3 version.   It was a PC game ported to the consoles.

Now, I am buying Dragon age 2.

But, only thing I need to know is for which system?   Is it a console game ported to the PC this time or a PC game ported to the consoles?

Depends on the version you get.  DA2 has been designed much more then DA1 for console players, but there are still going to be differences between the PC and console versions.   Mass Effect 2 would be a decent comparison, but you obviously didn't play that on your PS3.

ME2 felt like it was a PC game, not just a port. So if that's any indication, getting the PC version will be fine.

In fact, they've said they're taking the time to tune the PC version's controls.

Just came up on Steam for $60 pre-order. You don't get the signature edition. Screw EA. I'll probably wait til the game is down to $40 or whatever. They're really screwing the pooch with all this pre-order, signature edition, dlc bullshit.

hopefully superior Witcher 2.  I'm getting both games but some of the changes I've seen for either game haven't been making me warm and fuzzy, like QTE's and that damned ponytail in Witcher 2.

Ok I have my pre order in. Got it early enough to qualify for the free upgrade. But thinking back I liked DA:O no where near as well as the Mass Effect series. I mean I enjoyed it. But I thought it was kinda bland..story and looks wise( blood splatter perma)....I also recall getting bored with how long some stuff could go on(Dwarf area). I can't think of one outstanding thing about it. Yet I know I liked it and pre ordered pt 2 without reservation. So did everyone but me think it was amazing?

yes, this sounds really fun and like a good direction to the rpgs. Here's guessing that the next Dragonage will have 16 player MP arena style combat and the one after that will be ONLY MP...
