Looking at the upcoming releases it looks like I may not be getting anything new until February of next year (unless I track down a Wii). I think Rogue Galaxy is due in January, but beyond that I don't see anything big coming down the pipeline. Am I missing something, or is this going to be time for me to tackle my backlog?

Lost Planet is a big one coming for the 360 in early January. Yeah, I'd say that LP and RG are my two big must haves for early next year. Otherwise I'm looking forward to continuing with my backlog from this busy fall as well as maybe taking a little break from gaming (gasp!) so I can fit in some more books, movies, and TV series.

A lot of January releases are placeholder dates.
They may get pushed back once we get through Xmas.

Isn't Blue Dragon slated for a Dec 31 release? Can't wait for that one.

January is a pretty terrible time to release a game. Everyone is low on funds and full of other gifts to occupy their time post-Christmas.

No. If you've seen 12/31/06 or 1/01/07 it is usually a placeholder. A US release date has not been announced.

Lost Planet is a major major major day-one purchase for me. In my top 3 of the entire next year.

Oh and as for me. There's nothing out there that I really want. Dead Rising and GoW will hold me over...I'm plannign on selling a bunch of my backlog and there's about 4 or 5 PS2 titles I want to play.

I must have played a different demo for Lost Planet than everyone else, because I was really unimpressed with it. Was there a newer demo than the one that came out during E3 last year?

For single player that was it. There is a multiplayer demo that came out within the last month or so. I thought the single player demo was fun and I look forward to playing the full game, but I don't think I'm super excited about it. Especially after getting the impression that the story seems to be in very lengthy, Japanese-y cutscenes. For some reason those really turn me off.

if you're talking about the SP demo, what was unimpressive about it to you? I thought it kicked ass...the graphics, models, animation, setting, and weapons feedback were all A+ top notch in my opinion. I really liked the floating reticle/aiming system it has too, instead of the standard FPS fixed crosshair. the only thing bad about it was the enemy AI. and that was admittedly *really* bad, definitely below average. I'm hoping that was something they could have easily fixed in the time since then definitely a first-day buy for me

For anyone looking forward to Lost Planet, be sure to skip this week's 1Up Yours podcast- evidently they spoil the entire game at about the 20 minute mark.
