Not sure I want to spend 800 pts on Doom. The only way that the original Doom is worth 800 points is if it does have online co-op.

If it were Ultimate Doom (the collection thing) I'd buy it. Otherwise... that's fairly limited isn't it?

Reposted from OO:
Just downloaded this and played the first couple levels.
It costs 800 points. The controls are very, very good so far. I'm not missing the keyboard and mouse at all. Graphics are slightly upgraded, but not much. Music is kinda crappy, but I just turned it down a bit. Sound effects are as good as we all remember.
It includes all 4 episodes. All the secrets are there, though I can't remember where most of them are to save my life.
It also includes multiplayer for up to 4 people, including co-op. I should be on for most of the night if anyone is up for some Smile.

If they'd priced this at 400 I would most likely have gotten it for the co-op. For 800 they can keep it.

So 800 points is $10 right? For $17 I bought the Doom 3 Collector's Edition which includes the complete Doom 3 game (which can be played co-op), Ultimate Doom and Doom II (both of which can be played split-screen co-op). And it works great with the 360 using backward compatibility.
Something's seriously wrong with the pricing on this.

No widescreen. I'd think that would be pretty hard to pull off with a 2D game. I snagged it last night and it plays great. But I agree that the pricing is double what it should be.

I don't see why not... nearly every Doom mod that's come out since the source code was released allows you to set your FOV. Maybe they thought it would give widescreeners an unfair advantage in MP. I dunno.

I got suckered in with my desire to try deathmatch (the only reason I could see this worth $10 is multiplayer). Sadly, the controls get much wonkier. Aiming is very difficult with people sliding all over the place. I may have had a bad session, though, so I'll have to try it again.

I dunno. That's true, I forgot about those as I really never messed around with any of the ports. But from what I understood the assests from Doom were ported to an enhanced engine that was based on the original id one. It was much more 3D centric (as opposed to 2.5) and supported more features. I'm fairly certain the rendering engine was completely rewritten. I agree it would've been great to have widescreen support. I wasn't expecting it but I had my virtual fingers crossed as I loaded it up last night. I imagine it had to do with licensing and using a 3rd party freeware engine, etc. However, just to be picky, FOV is not the same as widescreen support. It just means you can see more in the draw box.

You can adjust the screen size, by the way, guys. Not up to widescreen, but the default is set at 4/10 and I was able to bump it to 8/10 without losing anything. It fills up more of the screen that way.

So, wait, the default game is played in a window? What, the 360 isn't powerful enough to play Doom at full screen without frame rate loss or something? Ah, I remember the days of playing Wolfenstein 3D on a woefully underpowered system in a window the size of a postage stamp. It did play though.
