Duct Tape.

PC Gamer had a comment in the Half-Life 2 issue as a caption in the "Killing Box". The article was a "counter-point" on Doom 3 railing against all the hate that's come out against it, and the caption under the picture said "Real space marines don't duct tape a flashlight to their weapon." Yeah, because a real space marine wants to get jumped in the dark by a frickin' spawn and is too stupid to hold his flashlight and gun in separate hands.

I'm waiting for the TC's to start coming out. Already there are several mods that look fantastic. Like I thought long ago, id put out another glorified tech demo, and the gaming community had to make their own games with it. Go figure.

Well, I loved Doom 3.  I didn't come into it with any preconceptions and it was spooky and intense.  I'll be picking this up right away.

I like Doom 3, it isn't great, but it's a solid C shooter.  It's biggest flaw isn't the darkness (or the tired flashlight criticisms).  It just doesn't know if it wants to be a creeper or an action game and is caught in between.  Oh well, I'm having fun with it (almost done) but I won't be playing it again.

If the expansion addresses most of the issues I'll pick it up on sale.  If not then the user conversions will make it worth it.

Jancelot, that is possibly the best summation I have read YET of Doom3. (I swear, I won't debunk the incredibly stupid "duct tape" argument by pointing out you aren't likely to be carrying that around with you while you are fetching a scientist, fresh off a flight to Mars, are You?  I know when I board planes as a soldier, I'm fully expecting the duct tape I choose to carry on my flight to be of use when I touch down at home base.)

Greg, so you do choose to post about stuff you have no interest in.  Why?  I just find that interesting behavior.

I can't believe you're even trying to make this into an issue.  Do you actually think that every reporter or newsanchor is actually interested in EVERY story they present?  This is an internet forum where ideas and subjects are exchanged.  Show me the rule that says you have to be interested in topics you present that others MAY be interested in.

What about the guy on GoneGold that posted Amazon's Friday sales, even though some were absolutely shitty beyond belief?  He wasn't interested in those shit ass sales and neither were most everyone else, but someone MAY have found something interesting in his posts.

Hey Greg, when a reporter announces a story, does he also give his personal comment?  "Im Dan Rather, and I couldn't give a rat's ass about this next human interest story, but you might care..."

You want to "report", then by all means, do so.  If you can't do it without the op ed piece, why not just let eveyone else spot it on Gametab like probably every one of us did anyway?

(Oh, and you amazon sale example was a poor one.  While the poster may have not cared about that particular Firday sale by Amazon, he did care in general about Amazon Friday sales, so yes, he did have interest in it.
