It's like you went to an AA meeting and asked if anyone has a problem with alcohol.

Consider the plight of CeeKay - he tries to focus on a game and when he's jus-ooo shiny!!

It would be way too depressing for me to put together an actual list - thought about it, though. Was thinking three categories: never started, started but not completed, actually played all the way to the end completed.  The last category would be... small.  icon_frown

I don't have a problem   paranoid

On the plus side I really don't have to worry about it doubling in the next two months either.

About 15-20 PS3 games
About 15-20 Xbox 360 games
About 20-30 PS2 games

Ceekay, for that to happen, Steam would have to get a lot more games.

I've given up playing my backlog.  I've reached a point where it wil outlive me. Maybe my son can inherit the gaming debt too.

Yeah, I think that's most of them. I haven't really updated it lately. Some random PC games are missing I know and I have gained and lost some of the console games for sure since then.

My backlog is exacerbated by the fact that I frequently enjoy replaying games from years past, and I play everything very, very slowly.  A game I'm particularly keen on might get two, even three hours of play in a week.  I also tend to read through all those ambient books in Oblivion, the codex entries in Dragon Age, and the e-mails and e-books in Deus Ex 3.  If someone took the time to write all that stuff out, it seems like the least I can do is see what they have to say. icon_cool

That's my problem too. The last playthrough of Mass Effect I did it took me like 80 hours over like a month plus span. I did the same thing the first time I played it although that one was a couple years ago on my bros 360. I feel the need to replay items before I get to their sequels so I spend more time than I should to get caught up. Spending most of my time in MP games doesn't help either. I should see which ones I could knock out quickly from the list I guess.

Yeah I started it ages ago but got sidetracked and never got back. I have a few gems hidden in there but need more time to play! Maybe this winter.

there are multiple tabs, but also a lot of them are marked completed.  Completed games don't count as part of the backlog  Tongue

I started cleaning out my computer room a couple of weeks ago and so far had found at least 25 sealed games going back as far as 3 years... I opened them all up now just to make myself feel a little better....
I usually get real excited about new games, then get bored and put them on the back burner... I also have a LOT of trouble finishing games.... just get bored and need a new shiny... Some games I'll pick a weekend to try to blow through them, maybe even using cheats just so that I can finish them....

I (sorta) resolved my backlog issue by not buying any new games I know I'm not going to play thru. I rarely give in to the forum effect or the gaming-media hype machine. Usually, I read reviews of anything I purchase.. and in most cases, I wait a year before I pick up a game. This is because I've a habit of playing new games for about 4-5 hours before they go back on the shelf. That doesn't justify dropping 60 bucks on a new release. I see most of you dropping 60 bucks on 4-6 games a month (gaze slowly turns to Ceekay) and wonder if you have any money in your savings account.  icon_razz

On your way out, how about you swing by the AA meeting down the hall and tell them you don't have a drinking problem, and that they're a bunch of whiny drunks. Tongue

that's because playing games on a cell phone fucking sucks. I'm dumb founded any time someone says that's the future of gaming. No, it's not and for clearly obvious reasons that anyone with a small particle of a brain can see.

also, most of them are awful.

I thought it would be bad playing games on iPhone.... Key word is thought. Sure some games suck on a phone, but there alot that are incredible considering the platform. They are not equivalent to consoles or pcs but iPhone beats the hell outta psp or ds in SOME situations. I guess you don't like orgasms and cupcakes. (ok, that was funny to me and only me while intoxicated, but still accurate)

It is always a sad day when you decide to write a game off.  But at some point you just need to say.. "you know what, it just isn't going to happen".

When that point came for me I just traded everything in.  While it stung a bit, I had to face reality in that I'd never play some of the games in my backlog, so it was more beneficial for me to trade them in toward a smaller selection of games I will play.

Ultimately I don't really have any kind of backlog anymore except for a few XBLA titles I need to finish.  Fallout 3 and Half Life 2 are both in my backlog, but HL2 bored me to tears and I just couldn't get into Fallout 3, so I don't really have much left to finish.  I'll probably get a few games for Christmas, but purchases have halted long ago due to finances and a heavy academic curriculum.
