So the site here says the 20th (today), Amazon says it ships the 22nd and EB says it ships the 26th
Does anyone actually know when this will be on shelves?

I'm in.
I have it pre-ordered from Gamestop.com and I keep getting email every couple days saying the release is changed. The date keeps moving back and forth between the 25th and the 26th. Either way, I think it's safe to say that I'll have it next week.

Seriously though, I have been looking for a good fighting game ever since I played Soulcalibur 2 and I'm sure this will be it.

I love the DOA series. I'm not very good at fighting games, but I'll be a whipping boy if anyone wants to match up.

*sigh*
Think we need to get the Live pack on my next paycheck. Missing out on on the multiplayer goodness.
Our catch is that the DSL modem is upstairs and the x-box is downstairs...
We do have a phone jack by the x-box though. I'm guessing there's some way to get it to work

The best option is to get a wireless router and a wireless hub (I think Microsoft put out a hub themselves). I had the same problem and was finally looking into drilling a hole in my floor for a wire when someone suggested this obvious solution. In my research, it seemed Linksys is the best company, so that's what I got. If you can afford it, go with the 802.11g option (over the "b") as pretty soon your toaster is going to need wireless connectivity.

Depends on your company. For mine (Cablevision), I'd have to get a second account. Total ripoff. I'm not sure how DSL works. I assume it hooks into any phone line, but you'd have to ask them about it.

Maybe we should fight it out! Ok, and I will just about guarantee you I'm worse than both of you. We could start a tourney and call it ... THE BATTLE OF SUCK I don't have this one yet, but if enough people rate it high, I might pick it up (read: swap SA for it)

It seems that you can create virtual arcades with up to 8 people. While 2 players fight, the other 6 can observe. The winner then faces the next person. Also I think the 8 can start an ad-hoc tournament. Looks like good stuff.

There is an online game mode where the loser stays. So whoever loses keeps playing until they win. They must have been thinking of Devil. I'm not great at fighting games, but I win more than I lose. We'll see about this though; every fighting game is different.

Basically what I get from the reviews is that they've expanded the reversal process...other than that it's pretty much the same game mechanics as when DoA2 originally came out, except the players are more balanced and the game obviously looks far better.
So, anyone that was good at DoA2 probably isn't going to have too tough a time on this one.

I went through the story mode in DOA2 for every character.
Is this game Live Aware? Could you guys see me even though I was in single player?

I went through the story mode in DOA2 for every character. Nice, good to know my four year old will be able to handle it! I want to grab this, but I do worry about its length. It seem so to burn out really quickly. Anyone else have impressions?

To me the online portion will give it legs. I've now gotten to the point where I only buy games that are playable over Live. I just rent the good single player games.
Devil. I was online playing ESPN Football online and looking for you to come on, but you never showed up. So I guess it's not Live aware.

Well just remember:
There can be no *Official* Battle of Suck unless I am involved.
You have no concept of ineptitude until you have seen me play a fighting game.
I may pick this up tonight if it seems like a good portion of the CG crew is "IN!"

(Is that like calling out your mistress's name when you're in bed with your wife??) you're right, it is hitomi. I knew it didn't look right. I'd go so far as to say it's like calling out your wifes name when you're with your mistress. Thanks, Loomi.

You need to have DOA3 to unlock one of DOA Ultimate's characters?? How does that work? I don't know how far in you need to be, but Tecmo did the same thing with DOA XBV... your DOA3 savegame (or the presence of one, regardless of whether you still have the game or just rented it) would unlock some stuff.

Got it, played some, looks pretty good. More fun then I thought it'd be, so I'm looking forward to playing online. The graphics are pretty good, but not as mind blowing as I thought they'd be. I'm kind of disappointed actually. I remember being amazed at DOA 3's graphics. It shows how much other games have caught up I guess. (I'm not saying the graphics are bad, they are very good, just not mind blowing.)

I have a DOA3 save on my HD as well. One that's basically 100% complete. And I don't have Hitomi yet either. I wouldn't be surprised if she was a reward for beating the game with every character at least one time or something along those lines. There's been a reward for that the last couple of times. I was going to say it might be Bayman, but he appeared the first time I beat the game with Leon.
