Actually.... The current plan from 3DRealms for the Gold version of DNF: Include the original game as well as the first expansion pack on whatever the current software medium is in the distant future. Super DVD, DVD+, or something like that. It will also have a 10 part documentary on each 3D engine that was used in the making of the game. It may also include some historical information about the legacy across the generations as the sons and grandsons of the original developers finish the work that started so long ago with their forefathers. And...in case you have any faith in 3dRealms at this point: Much of the credit for Duke Nukem 3D goes to Ken Silverman who did most of the work on the 3D engine and technology. Not only that, but he was a teenager at the time. I had faith for a long, long time but it is long lost now. See, I clicked through because . . . because I figured (knowing the sun will be a cooled ball of stelar matter before 3D Realms ever finished Duke Nukem Fugadaboutit) there was some OTHER game with the initials D.N.F. Seriously, there are NO other games out there with those initials? Dark Nuclear Fallout? Dragons Need Fuscia? Don't Nuke Finland!!! If I was a small game developer, I think I might go out of my way to give my game the initials, D.N.F. Think about it. Think about the free publicity you'd get. And if it were a FPS . . . woah nellie. Actually, Dark Nuclear Fallout kind of sounds like a RTS . . . but I'm digressing . . . |

I was at a tech expo here in Dallas all day and I overheard that 3D Realms was in attendance. I spoke with my company's account rep with the tech firm that was hosting the event and she pointed him out. Man did the guy look humorless, but I was so damn close to walking over and asking him, "Excuse me, but don't you have a game you should be working on?" |
